Edit 1: that sounds like I was trying to be too cool for school. Wasn't.

Edit 2: with Blitzen Trapper

I just noticed that the tix are $30. (I don't think they've been higher than $25 in the past.) This is unquestionably the most RAWK you can get for the money. It's good to see them be able to demand a little more purse.

We're in for this. How's the parking at The National?

Last time we saw DBT there we walked to the venue from our hotel but we're planning on staying farther out this time.

There is a parking deck behind/across the street from the Marriot which, if my memory isn't totally FUBAR, is free on weekends.

Ouch, are you guys getting $200+ rates for Marriott and Hilton Garden Inn that night? I think Marriott was $120 or so last time.

I wanted to grab the Marriot, it's usually much more erasonable. North of $200 is right out, though. Booked the Hilton Garden at about $150 , and pissed about that (but will appreciate the proximity after the shindig).

We just got the Omni Richmond for $95 on Hotwire, under $120 with the fees, etc. Pretty decent deal all things considered.

I was on the fence for this one...never thought I'd say that about a DBT show as close as Richmond when I've driven twelve hours to see them; however, I'm finishing a degree and thought I might have to do group work that weekend. However, the fates aligned, and I pulled the plug!

We've stayed at the Omni for past concerts, but it seems to have really high rates that weekend. My wife found the Crown Plaza (half a mile from the National according to mapquest) for just over $100. I'm guessing I can make the walk at the end of the show or at least spring for a cab.

My wife is six months pregnant (she'll also have our three year old son) and says she's not attending, but my father-in-law reminds me that he took my pregnant mother-in-law (and my wife in utero) to hear a Dylan show thirty or so years ago! Should I start a 3DD poll to see if we should get my parents to babysit and my wife comes to the show???? I"m sure a 3DD poll's results would persuade her, right????? At least next Saturday night I'll be putting "my cigarette out and my hat back on"!!!!!! (don't even smoke...it's just a great opening line...practically working DBT lyrics into conversation sounds like a great thread doesn't it???

Joni, If I can get my wife to come to the balcony, do you think you can get me a fake ID for my three year old, as I assume there's some sort of age requirement for admittance? I've actually been threatening all week to go into the hotel after she falls asleep and sneak my son out to the Rock Show. in the car my son requests three artists "Dwive by Twuckers," "Bwuce Spwinsteen," and "Bob Dylan". Good taste for a three year old, huh?!?

I was in Charlottesville yesterday and reminisced about the good times, I've had at shows in that city. I can't wait for Saturday's show.

My brother lives in Richmond (not downtown) and was telling me about this if anyone is from out of town and looking for something to do:

http://www.shamrocktheblock.com/

I think my wife has baby shopping in mind for the afternoon, so I doubt I can go to Shamrock the Block and the concert, but hey life is good!

See y'all soon!

Well I am mighty stoked about the show this Saturday!! It's been about a year since my last DBT show so this one's looooong overdue. I've been contemplating setlist scenarios in my head all week, and I'm pretty sure I've got this one nailed down so I'm hereby calling it ---

Hell No I Ain't Happy
Made Up English Oceans
Ronnie and Neil
Primer Coat
Grand Canyon
Zip City
Rock Solid
Hearing Jimmy Loud
Bulldozers and Dirt
Women Without Whiskey
When Walter Went Crazy
Til He's Dead or Rises
The Part of Him
Get Downtown
Pauline Hawkins
Shut Up and Get on the Plane
----
Shit Shot Counts
The Company I Keep
Three Dimes Down
When He's Gone
First Air of Autumn
Buttholeville --> State Trooper

In fact, I am so confident about my predictions that I'll bet any of y'all a whole nickel that the setlist above is spot-on (limit 20 bets, on the off-chance that I'll need to minimize my losses). Any takers?? :D
I keep it all together for the sake of the kids.

Seems a little short for a Richmond set list.
