Crappy venue for sound that requires a cranked up rock show.

I'm in.

Does that mean they're paying for your ticket? Or just your room & board?

I'll settle for a home cooked meal. Or at least Chinese takeout.

I was 23 before I realized that Chinese takeout wasn't a home cooked meal.

Actually, not even close to true but I know a few people who could probably say that w/ a straight face so I thought I'd speak for them.

I love that our EVP of sales emailed me to say, "DBT is playing on my birthday! Are you coming?" :)

My tickets came yesterday, sending my excitement for this show into the stratosphere even though I abhor T5 and have promised myself to never return after a horrendous Portugal the Man concert experience.

DBT is the only band I would break this promise for... altho my friend will probably successfully talk me into breaking it again for Foals in May.

Anyways, I really want to get the rail for this show. Any tips/ tricks for beating the massive crowd at T5? Any others who want to maybe combine forces? I still remember many faces from the front at the last DBT show at Brooklyn Bowl (and Alabama Shakes at same venue) and would love to meet up with yall!

My only tip is to line up early. That's what we railbirds do for DBT shows and it typically works pretty well. :D

Get there early my son, or be a woman, preferably a good looking one. I'm not sure how much help that is, but hey, you know how parents are.

I've been eying Hotels.com and have a couple speculative guesses. Also have a corporate rate at the Sofitel. Anybody else know where they are staying?

Venue easily to travel to from Times Square area?

Yep. You could probably walk from Times Sq to Terminal 5 in like 20-25 minutes. But that'd be a short subway ride and walk (T5 isn't too close to any one particular stop) too.

T5 is really far west. The key point about that is that it's not really close to any subway stops. But it's a reasonable walk or short cab ride from T Square or anywhere else you might stay on the W side. Going E to W and back is long and often a pain, so I wouldn't recommend that. If you were to stay at one of the newly fashionable hotels downtown (the W. Village, Soho, Chelsea) all (I think, definitely most) of the convenient subways will get you as close as it's possible to get to the venue, and the walk is not that bad, just further than any destination in the city ought to be from a subway. Also, do not plan on eating around the venue if by "around" you mean close.

Thank you for the well wishes and we're glad to be traveling for a DBT show, since the 40 Watt run was squandered by a work trip to Shanghai and had a European work trip too close to their tour dates.

It doesn't sound like Terminal 5 is everyone's favorite venue, but I'm really looking forward to our first NYC DBT show and spending time in one of my favorite cities in the world for the long weekend.

And thanks BTB and Uncle Rickey for the advice.
