That would be a baller move.

Any time ABAAC beyond Gravity's Gone makes it into a set list, "it" moves a little bit.

All the new stuff sounded great. I was worried that MUEO and Natural Light wouldn't translate live but I was wrong, both were incredible. To me last night was about two words: Jay Gonzales. He fucking killed. This latest re-imagining of DBT is firing on all cylinders and Jay's expanded role just adds so fucking much to the group. Addition by subtraction indeed.

There is almost a palpable sense of relief coming from the stage--relief that the extraneous bullshit that almost broke them up is done, relief that Cooley's song writing dry spell is over, etc. PH mentioned in the Flagpole interview that there is a lot of letting go on this album and there was certainly a lot of letting go last night. Just feel really lucky to be witnessing it live.

btw, I have one extra for tonight and tomorrow so PM me if you know anyone interested.
Kick out the jams motherfuckers.

I'm having a great time so far, but I'm still bummed about all the people who couldn't make it.

Wow, I think there are more people I don't know than I do in those pics. I guess I better get busy. If you recognize me, pls introduce yourself. And I guess this as good a time as any to apologize in advance to those I don't recognize or whose screen or real names i forget. It's embarrassing, but i have never been good w/ names and time hasn't helped any.

Great name for a song . . .

Stuck inside of Newark with the Athens blues again... Somebody allready wrote something like that I think ;)

Still in Newark. My 3rd day here. Starting to feel a bit desillusioned by the situation. So far 5 flights I have been on got cancelled. I am going to make one final attempt today as I am on standby for a flight leaving at 1 pm. If that works out I should be in Athens in time for the show this evening. If I don't get on that flight I will return to Oslo again this evening.

Really appreciate the dedication from Patterson.

Man, after reading about your travels, I'm done feeling sorry for myself for not being able to go to Athens. (At least knew from the beginning that I wouldn't go this year so I didn't have any expectations shattered.) This is just a freaking shame. And getting stuck in Newark of all places is the pots. Crappy airport with crappy airport hotels.

I hope you make it. And, after what you have been through, I would hope that all beers the next two nights will be on various 3DDers. :D

Had such a great time last night. Seeing DBT any day is a good day but there was something special about seeing those guys with that 40 Watt backdrop. Loved the set. Highlights for me were Natural Light and MUEO. The way they translate to stage just shows where this band is at right now. I agree that the energy and and happiness the guys are showing just radiates thru the room. Jay is just amazing. Can't say that any better. His new role along with Matt have just reawakened a beast in my opinion. Of course the other three are the other three. Beyond the music and the venue, the most amazing thing were you folks. This truly is a homecoming and seeing the bond among these folks was something else. Looking forward to another night.

Thanks for the great review Bubba.

It’s kind of interesting Cooley played more of his new songs than Patterson did. I can’t wait to hear these new songs live. And when was the last time Lookout Mountain was used as a closer? Damn.

I have a feeling tonight’s show is gonna be a monster. I can't believe I'm the first to mention this but Patterson is singing Feb 14, right?

Can't believe I get to do this again tonight - I'm happy that so many folks made it safely and heartbroken for those who could not. Hopefully, those en route will make it yet.

The musicianship - just incredible. Watching/hearing those guitars - I can't get enough. Loved it all but Space City absolutely destroyed me. Lost my grandfather last March and I was pretty sure my grandmother would die of a broken heart after 72 years of marriage but she's still getting by (no, she's not too mean to die in case you wondered and I sound a bit like Patterson's mother when I got to hear him play Box of Spiders at the Zodiac one Thanksgiving Eve). Thank you to Mrs. Swamp for putting me in her spot – it was magical. I apologize to all who had to see my contorted face as I tried to hold off a total meltdown.

Another highlight was the story behind Dead, Drunk, and Naked – I had never heard it before.

Did anyone else see Paul make the catch of the day?

OK, back to work so I can try to get out of here soon.

Not true. I swear! Just a bad pic!

After 9 hours of travel, I finally walked into the club at 10:45 during Shit Shots. Better late than never, right?

The highlight was definitely the new songs, especially Cooley's. Loved hearing the Keith riffs and watching him do the Keith moves during Hearing Jimmy Loud. During MUEO he switched halfway through from his acoustic to his baxendale electric. And he played that ugly corvus guitar later in the night. And yeah, Jay sounded great! Did you know that's him playing the solo in Primer Coat? I had no idea. Of Patterson's songs, Ronnie& Neil, Company I Keep and Tornados were highlights. So many people there last night, so much fun.

And mucho gracias to Athens Joe and his family and friends for hosting a great time this afternoon. Too bad Uncle Rickey ate all the ribs before I got there but I did have two servings of the amazing banana pudding that Athens Joe's mom made. I need that recipe.

And I would feel bad if I didn't make a public thank you to Joe and his family for their hospitality. It nice to see and get to talk to everybody in a quieter more laid back setting. And the groceries were dang good. The beer too.
