Not gonna make it for night #1. Stuck at Newark one more night. I made it to the gate and things were looking promissing. Planes were taxing. People were boarding. Snow got moved on the ground (allthough with some difficulties it seamed). Then got the cancel an hour and a half before boarding was to commence. Back to hotel now. On standby for a flight tomorrow morning. Wheater forecast looks better. Crossing fingers.

Brutal, Rolank! The only thing worse then flying over the pond and getting stranded is flying over the pond and getting stranded in Newark, NJ.

Well, at least Delta told me I'm entitled to a full refund since my flight is cancelled. So maybe I'll treat myself to a new tattoo to take the sting out of this, after I head to my favorite bar and get blotto that is.

Has anyone traveled I-20 from SC into Georgia?
Can you tell me how to tell when I've had enough?

 I have been stranded here before some years ago. I can now write a section on Newark hotels for Lonely Planet.

I guess my lesson learned from all this is to book overseas flight directly to the final destination in the US so as to avoid the domestic flights. Even if it means adding 2-3 hours to the intercontinental flight and getting up at impossible hours in the morning. The Oslo Newark connection is allways very tempting due to the shorter flight time. (I hate flying almost as much as I hate New Jersey Hotels)

We are about 20 mins out on 316. Parts of it are still slushy so take it slow. We've seen a couple of cars in the ditch.

At PHL, expecting to take off for ATL in about an hour. Hoping to hit the 40 Watt in time for a beer or two before dbt takes the stage. Fingers crossed.

It didn't work out for us to come a day early but we are still planning to drive in tomorrow for the Friday and Saturday shows. Any chance for a stream tonight?

So flights from NY and Philly took off today but Newark is cancelled today and tomorrow? What, did Newarks mayor eat the last ring ding before Christie could? I hate my state just a little more today.

There was flights making it in and out of Newark today. But also a lot of cancellations as well. All the ExpressJet or whatever its called operating smaller 50 seaters (embreaers) were cancelled. Puzzles me why that 2:39 flight to ATL I was supposed to be on was cancelled. That was a larger Airbus and on its way and ahead of schedule from Las Vegas.

I stood watching from the terminal building for a while and the snow clearing at the gates appeared to be a bit disorganised. Bulldozers with snowplows were just moving the snow around and dropping large piles of snow everywhere and in the way of the planes and vehicles. They didnt have chains on the tires and had problems moving once the snow piled in front of the plow.

Also over at the deicing there were at least 15 deicing vehicles with 6 or 7 working simultaneously on a plane but it still took an awfully lot of time to clear one plane.

Well none out of BWI. Southwest sent me a text at 930 flight cancelled and another one at 430 saying the plane is scheduled for take off at 730 as planned (although their website still shows cancelled). Screwed and disappointed, story of my life.

So I finally got my tots @ Clocked. Good stuff & lotsa Georgia peaches for me to ogle. It inspired this little poem:

I've got
Co-eds to the left of me
I've got
Co-eds to the right of me
I've got
Co-eds all around me
But I've got Bill
Oh I've just got Bill

Luckily, Bill is more fun than 20 co-eds. Well, not really; but he is a lotta fun.

This is really the shittiest couple days I've had in a long while. I guess I'll cancel the rest of my vacation and go back to work. This is what I get for being to lazy to do the drive anymore. Have fun all of you who were able to make it.
