I'm with Smitty on Birthday Boy.
Re: English Oceans Discussion Thread
I never said that I think its a bad song or that I don't like the song. It's just that the dude has such a strong collection of songs. To be honest, in regards to studio selections I'd only rank "Bob" and "Hearing Jimmy Loud" as songs below "Birthday Boy" in my preferences to see live at a DBT show. And those are pretty damn good songs as well.Smitty wrote:Birthday Boy is a top five Cooley sonbg. Y'all are crazy.

"Natural Light" is NOT below "Birthday Boy"?!Cubfan06 wrote:I never said that I think its a bad song or that I don't like the song. It's just that the dude has such a strong collection of songs. Purely objective and I know that I'm in the minority, but I love Natural Light.211poundsofpork wrote:"Natural Light" is NOT below "Birthday Boy"?!Cubfan06 wrote:I never said that I think its a bad song or that I don't like the song. Re: English Oceans Discussion Thread
(1) Neutral observation here: I am/have been involved in a lot of online music communities over the years (3DD, Gourds, Neil Young, numerous GD groups, the Phil Zone, Black Crowes, and several I have forgotten) and I have to say that 3DD is more, dare I say, obsessed with rankings and lists than any other group, not even close
(2) That said, any Cooley top 5 list without Cottonseed is irrelevant

I find that hard to believe. Not because we aren't list obsessed, 'cause we certainly are*, but I've never been a part of any group of music fans, virtually or non-virtually, where making lists is not an obsession. It's almost like if you're not list obsessed then you're not really a music boardwhatwouldcooleydo? wrote:(1) Neutral observation here: I am/have been involved in a lot of online music communities over the years (3DD, Gourds, Neil Young, numerous GD groups, the Phil Zone, Black Crowes, and several I have forgotten) and I have to say that 3DD is more, dare I say, obsessed with rankings and lists than any other group, not even close

Perhaps the fact that you've "never been a part of any group of music fans, virtually or non-virtually, where making lists is not an obsession" speaks more about yourself than other groups of music fans.
But, as always, what the fuck do I know?
And lest you think I'm angry, I'm not, not even close. It's our anniversary, our Willie Mays years, and I'm a happy man

Re: English Oceans Discussion Thread
I don't know how they do it at the Hamilton board, but Deadheads are perhaps the most critical towards their band than any fanbase. The band always acknowledged and appreciated it, said that fans calling them on every little mistake kept them honestZip City wrote:True, the hippies are probably starting fistfights over which shows are bestwhatwouldcooleydo? wrote:like the man said in Deliverance......... you don't know nuthin' 'bout nuthin'Zip City wrote:WWCD post on Dead boards, where every live show is tied for first
