NYE Speculation thread
With a lot of New Year's Eve shows starting to be announced, I was wondering if our guys would be doing anything this year.
The obvious choice, 9:30 Club in DC (site of the last 2 New Year's runs for DBT), is already booked for Trombone Shorty. In 2010 they played Terminal 5 in NYC, which is booked this year for Gogol Bordello. They didn't play a New Year's show in 2007, 2008, or 2009, but in the previous years had done NYE in Atlanta, Boulder, Chicago, etc.
So what do you think? Where should they play (if anywhere at all)? I have technicolor dreams of two nights at Tipitina's in NOLA to close out the year, but that's just me.

We never do anything for New Years but we would do that. Hot damn that would be a time.

Boulder is the only logical choice.

I'm thinking Colorado this year. But who knows, they may take NYE off in anticipation of a heavy touring schedule for 2014. It seems like the NYE shows are an opportunity for family members of the band and crew to come out and have a good time.

You could count me in for that. No work to interfere and a friend who'd be thrilled to have me around for a few days.

Re: NYE Speculation thread
If the 930 run is skipped this year, they'll have skipped DC for a whole year (though Baltimore in March was close).
Since it doesn't sound like the 930 Club is available this year, I doubt they'll play anywhere else in DC.
Also, the fact that 2 of 3 shows on last year's NYE didn't sell out, may have something to do with it as well.

Re: NYE Speculation thread
As much as I'd love to see a CO NYE run, Patterson is doing 2 solo shows here in mid December and the Ogden, Bluebird, and Boulder Theater are already booked. I don't see anything for NYE at the Fox but that seems a bit excessive after the two nights they did in Boulder this past April. My guess is nothing for NYE with a busy 2014 shaping up.
Although maybe they do Ft Collins and we can all party at Christie's place!

Richmond would be awesome. Maybe Atlanta?
If they wanted to do DC the recently renevated Howard Theater isn't booked, and looks like it would be an awesome space, although maybe a bit high-brow.. Holds 650 seated or 1100 standing, so capacity is about right too.

I would love this. It's one of my favorite area venues and they have good food.

Owned, as I recently learned, by a cousin of mine I haven't seen in thirty years. I'm still voting for NOLA though.

The Fillmore does not have a show listed for NYE. Just sayin'.

Here's an idea: small, intimate family gathering in somebody's living room. 3DD and Team Dirty South do a video/audio feed. Kind of like the old King Family Christmas specials.

I vote for Tips!! NOLA for NYE would be amazing.

Asheville, NC. They would have to announce soon though or it's WSP in ATL.

Asheville would make a lot of sense since they didn't play there (or Charlotte) this year.

I was wondering about that, but Railroad Earth's got the Orange Peel for the NYE run. Maybe Charlotte; nothing's listed at the Visulite yet. Richmond is a logical guess, too, and there's nothing on the calendar at The National yet. Hmm...

I'd be the happiest man alive if they announced Charlotte but i REALLY doubt it....they haven't played here since Halloween of 2010 & to be honest, i don't think they're big fans of Charlotte....one of the last conversations i had with Craig i mentioned i was from there & he just made a face & said sorry....can't blame him, the Charlotte music scene is really fickle & notorious for waiting til the last min to buy tickets for shows...plus the Avett Bro's are doing their big NYE show here at Time Warner Arena so doubt they'd want to compete....
Just cause I don't run my mouth don't mean I got nothing to say...
Re: NYE Speculation thread
GWAR was announced at the National on the 29th. Can't believe DBT will not be at the 9:30 this year. Big dissapointment.

Do you mean Winston-Salem or is there also a Ziggy's in Wilmington?
Turn you demons into walls of goddamned noise and sound.
Re: NYE Speculation thread
There is now. Used to be another club. Doubt it's big enough for a normal DBT show, let alone a NYE show though, capacity is only 740...that's like 40 Watt sized.

Dirty Dozen Brass Band is also on the (impressive) bill.

FYI, the shows last year were announced October 10th...so seemingly in the next week or so we might get some sort of announcement.
