According to Pollstar, anyway.

Drive-By Truckers 1 update
Wednesday 10/30/2013 Dubuque, IA

Wonder where they'll be the next night? Strangely, was just discussing the Halloween show with Flea a few minutes before I got the Pollstar email.

This show has to be part of a Midwest tour. Sweet.

A nice Omaha, KC, St Louis would make for a perfect fall.

Oh man.
This is the second time this year that damn shows list has fooled me listing IL with no actual IL show (yet).
Halloween in Chicago really seems to make sense.
Its pretty much halfway between Dubuque and Detroit, so.

Lets hope its at a proper venue and not The Congress Theater.

What's up with a casino in Dubuque? I thought Casinos were where bands went to die... Not implying anything, it's just been an assumption of mine.

I hope this is a part of a tour, and not a one-off. It'd be great to see them up here in Minneapolis, but I've also been looking for a good excuse to go back to Chi-City....

Anyone know anything about this casino? Is it as shitty of a place to see a concert as I'm imagining from seeing other bands at casinos...bunch of old folks sitting in padded chairs politely clapping at the ends of songs...is DBT going to open with Buttholeville as an homage to the shittiness of the gig?
I saw ZZ Top at Prairie Meadows in Des Moines and it made me want to cry it was so lame...
On the plus side, the wife likes to gamble so I have an excuse to burn 2 vacation days that she might approve of :)

I put up a long Black Jack run there while attending a wedding a couple of years back. The place was conducive to partying. Didn't see the performance room. Seems weird to think that they're playing there. Wish I could make it, however the 31st is the end to my fiscal year.

This casino is actually really nice and brand-fucking-new. The whole Dubuque harbor area has been recently renovated. I went there for a work conference last year and was pretty impressed. I'm not into gambling much, but its a nice facility with a top notch hotel right next to it. Downtown Dubuque has some fun bars as well.

We will definitely have a crew at this one. Its actual a decent geographic location, only a couple hours from Chicago, Des Moines, and 1 hour from Madison.

I love the listing on the official site "Deboque IL".

Here's a picture of the room they're going to play:

Alright, this Chicagoan is in.

A little golf in Galena, and some Truckers at night.

I don't know you, but I wish I was able to join you. Eagle Ridge is a hell of a course. Golf in the morning and a DBT show in the evening sounds great.

Venue looks really cool too.

That's the plan.
Got some comped rounds I've been looking to take advantage of at Eagle Ridge.

I think that's safe to say. I do wonder if they're trying to get acts in the room other than typical casino acts and make it a respectable venue

Did anyone actually read the DBT description on the Casino's website? It is really odd. They talk about some of DBT's albums, but not all, and it just seems kind of weird to me.

I saw that too Cooley Girl, makes me wonder who issued that press statement. Did anyone happen to see the other acts playing between now and then? Peter Frampton, Don Felder ( the formerly of the Eagles part made me laugh) and Gregg Allman are pretty good company to be in the same room as. :ugeek:

Drive-By Truckers are an alternative country/Southern rock band. Following Drive-By Truckers’ first two albums, Gangstabilly and Pizza Deliverance, the band embarked on a nationwide tour, resulting in a live album called Alabama Ass Whuppin’. In 2006, A Blessing and a Curse showcased Drive-By Truckers’ ability to branch out into new territory, and can be seen as the band’s attempt at shaking labeling by critics, detractors, fans, and followers, particularly the Southern rock label that has haunted the band since Southern Rock Opera. In 2008, album Brighter Than Creation’s Dark, a far more “swampy” and country record, went to number 37 on the Billboard 200 album chart and was billed a gothic masterpiece. Album The Big To-Do further brought media attention to the band, resulting in their highest chart success. Drive-By Truckers are best known for their songs “Where the Devil Don’t Stay,” “Lookout Mountain,” and “Bulldozers and Dirt.”

Just noticed the GA tickets for this show are only $25 on the DIamond Jo's site, but I paid $33 through the DBT site.
Unless I'm missing something.

I will be there. This is my hometown, very excited for this. Gonna try and get some of my buddies to the show.

That pic is a very odd pic. It is a pretty decent venue. I saw Shooter Jennings and Cody Canada and the Departed there. Slash (w/Myles Kennedy) played there in the last year or so.

Anyone into vinyl needs to stop at Moondog Music. Pretty decent vinyl selection, and definitely a fair amount of the music that people here listen too. I always hit it up whenever I get home. It is in a plaza right off of Highway 20, so it is easy to get to.

Officially in for this. CG booked us a room at the casino hotel, which had a pretty reasonable rate, I want to say $80-something for the night. I've got fam in Iowa, but never been to a DBT show there; it'll be good to check another state off the list. ;)

Also a little bird told me boyyourself may be making the trek for this one, which is awesome news.

Good. You'll have fun there. As I had said in a previous post we attended a wedding in Galena, but the reception was in Dubuque. The casino is pretty nice and I'm sure that your stay will be fun. Dubuque is a cool little city with some good establishments.

Debating tying this into Chicago on Thursday night, and then heading from Chicago to Manhattan KS on Friday to catch Farmageddon (ISU/KSU football game) on Saturday.

Epic, but exhausting.

That is exactly my logic.

Here are the bottlenecks: My cousin is going to the football game with me (this is already booked). He is a big DBT fan, but I don't know if he can free his schedule up to accommodate this. The idea of Chicago was brought up by a buddy whose brother lives there and would give us a crash pad. He has two kids, so I don't know if he can free up time to go to Dubuque AND Chicago. He's not an ISU fan, so he's not doing the game either. To what extent we all rode together would be hard to ascertain, especially if you're trying to optimize the route-taking from MSP to NE IA, to do Dubuque to Chicago, and then to Manhattan KS and back. If he just met us in Chicago, that would be the easiest, but that might be a prohibitively expensive solo trip for him. Throw in the fact that my wife is debating doing Dubuque but would have to be back in our town (1 hr 45 mins NW) for work on Thursday.

Lots of moving parts, but I think I can pull this off.
