Got 'em!
The link I posted last night was incorrect. That was the problem.

The DBT site is sure loading slowly--and the Shows page says "TICKET LINK COMING SOON". What have I missed?
The sooner we put those assholes in the grave&piss on the dirt above it, the better off we'll be

Yeah. And how's the Dazed located in relation to the Georgia Theater?

About a block further up the hill from the 40Watt. Not a big deal depending on BAC.
Never going back to Buttholeville. (Good luck with that!)
Re: Georgia Theater 8/23 & 8/24
Two blocks, but who's counting?
Might want to try Priceline. Last year I was able to get into the Hotel Indigo for like $80/night all in, and that is both closer and MUCH MUCH nicer than the Daze. The Athens Daze is pretty dumpy even by Days Inn standards.

It's a Christmas miracle! The last 2 weeks of Aug are a major black-out period for me at work, i.e., no vacations approved. I freaked out when I saw the date, convinced I would miss the Dexateens yet again! However, I asked anyway, and was actually approved to take 8/23 off! Excited is an understatement! I bought a plane ticket before they changed their minds.

I should be able to make this work, but haven't bought tickets yet. Tentative plan is drive down late Thursday as soon as I get off work, which with a dinner stop should put me in Athens around midnight-1AM. Beats having to drive on a show day.
Re: Georgia Theater 8/23 & 8/24
Is the GA theater general admission?
i dunno about that....my standards for dumpy drastically dropped after staying at the downtown Days Inn in Asheville way back (before it become just the Asheville Inn). The Dazed in Athens is clean enough....i don't stay in the room enough to really need anything more than a bed & 4 walls....

I haven't stayed at the Dazed in a couple of years, Lurleen and I usually stay at the Courtyard and are doing so this time, but I have to defend it a little bit here. It's really not that bad. The rooms are beat up but clean, the price is cheap and it's close to town. If you're single or sharing the room with some friends or something like that it's perfectly fine. They do dry out the bedspreads on the concrete though so I would immediately remove those upon entering. Seriously though coming from someone who's travelled a lot, there are whole lot worse places than the Days Inn Athens. Ask The Drifter about the crack hotel in Lexington sometime complete with outside microwave, gambling arabs and whores.

Yea, the GA theater is all GA. Open floor plus a couple of balconies.
Re: Georgia Theater 8/23 & 8/24
I stayed at the Days back in March because the Courtyard was sold out. It was clean but had that industrial disinfectant smell.
BTW--just booked the Courtyard by phone. Ask for the DBT discount rate-- $89/night

Always go to the show
Re: Georgia Theater 8/23 & 8/24
Might have improved a bit I guess. All I remember is the heating being rather underwhelming - this was the one time I stayed there, the epic snow'n'ice homecoming of 2011.

In for both nights and just booked Courtyard. Soon as I told the reservation person what night she says, Oh are you coming for the DBT show? I've had 3 calls in the past 5 minutes. Anyway, since I'm a relative newcomer to both DBT and 3DD I'm excited to meet as many of you as I can in person. Is there a 3DD happy hour around the pool or at a bar or something on Saturday? Do a little day-drinking, take a nap, and then do a little night drinking....lather rinse repeat. I'm already fucking pumped up.
Kick out the jams motherfuckers.

We're rapidly approaching some sort of singularity. At some point we'll have to start booking private shows because there won't be any tickets left for the general public at some of these...
I'm only like 80% joking.

Excellent. One of my daughters is a UGA grad and she used to take me there.
