Don't think so, not right now. Patton's been at home all week. Maybe the did like a day or two after getting back from the tour.

A birdie told me they are recording demos right now. That's the rumor. ;)
Never going back to Buttholeville. (Good luck with that!)

I am really looking forward to a new record. Can't get released soon enough. Ever since I read Patterson's latest "I'm not in love" with the name of the band comment I've been thinking 3DD could help re-name the band. :D How about The Cooley Hood Ornaments. No, that diminishes the rest of the band. Help me out here.

Hood's not in love with the band name? At least their not the Goo Goo Dolls. Please don't pull a Prince on us, Mr. Hood.

While I like the name, I've always had a suspicion that it's done them more harm than good in summoning outsiders.

This comment was said in reference to the Truckers, not the Downtown Rumblers, right?

Brent Best has expressed similar thoughts over Slobberbone but they just wouldn't be the same under any other name. I think the same is true for the Truckers.

Yeah, like it or not its been the bands name for ~20 years? A bit late to be changing it now.

Count me in the camp that likes it. What else would the Truckers call themselves?

Agreed. The band gives meaning to the name, not the other way around. Unless you're the Polka Kings or something.

I agree. The music is the most important aspect of the band. I love the Truckers because of the music, in spite of the name of the band.

Pretty sure Hood's comment about changing the name was mostly tongue-in-cheek. I would be absolutely, positively fucking shocked if Hood/Cooley were to ever change the name of the band (barring one of them leaving the band). DBT is their trademark. TBH, that name initially helped entice me to check them out. It's original, unique, and really not that bad as far as band names go.

Right. Simply put it would be cosmically stupid for any band centered around Hood & Cooley to record under any other name. And neither Hood nor Cooley is even a little bit stupid.

See, now I hope they change the name. That would be pretty punk rock.

It's a great name for a band. Looks cool on a t shirt too.

Anyone looking at Patterson's set lists get the impression we might get "Don't Be In Love Around Me" on this next record?

Buttholeville has never made it onto a studio record either, and that'd fit in with the raw rock record theme they're supposed to be going for.

"Buttholeville" is on Gangstabilly. While "Don't Be In Love Around Me" is a great song and I would love to hear a studio version of it, I'm much more interested in new material at this stage of the game. Save "Don't Be In Love Around Me" for a b-side or the box set.

Maybe because both songs are on Alabama Ass Whuppin'? Speaking of which, I wonder if there's still plans to re-release it this year.

Reports from the studio are that the AC conked out but they are continuing with the session anyway. Shades of Skynyrd rehearsing in the Hell House.

Sometimes things like that kick the intensity and magic up a notch. Like the power going out in the middle of Hell No I Ain't Happy at Ziggy's turning a great night into an unforgettable one. Still can't believe I was lucky enough to see that show. Getting pumped to hopefully get a taste of the new material at Ga. Theatre!

Yeah I don't see them changing the name. I personally have always loved the name and it suits them. I couldn't imagine them being called anything else.

Lots of good things happening in Athens this week. Matt just posted this pic of Patterson's new Baxendale hollow body guitar. Hot. Damn.
