Tulsa 1/24/13 Cain's BAllroom

Post by 4sooner »

Nothing better than a RAWK show in the historic Cain's.
Soonerette's big sis, 20, is in for her first DBT Show.
Can't get here soon enough.

I love Cain's! And I have that new (to me) car. If I don't get to go to Homecoming--maybe even if I do--I just might truck out there. The PikePass is already in my glove compartment.

Ever since seeing the footage of Cain's from Wilco's "Ashes of American Flags," I've wanted to make the trek down there to see DBT or any band there for that matter.

If it wasn't so close to the 40 Watt, my wife and I would prbably look to make this run.

Is Cain's as cool as it seems?

Will be my first Rock Show in 2.5 years. Seems more like 10 years. Intrigued to see how the band has changed sans Shonna & Neff.

Look forward as well to meeting up with you diamondd.
I won't be hard to spot. I'll be the old man limping around with a very pretty 20 yr old. Treating another daughter to her first rawk show.

The first DBT show I saw was at Cain's in 2010. Opened with After The Scene Dies, also played Box Of Spiders, 72, Birmingham, Girls Who Smoke, and Perfect Timing. Really cool set list.

Plus, the the "tramampoline" like floor is really a great feature of Cain's. It really gets swaying.

I got to that show late and missed most of the unusual suspects. Very frustrating. I still haven't heard Birmingham live.

The highlight of the ballroom is a historic maple, spring loaded dance floor designed in a “log cabin” or concentric square pattern. I don't know how many of them are out there and in good operating shape, but that's one.

I was at that show, really good time. Afterward, I was safe in the comfort of my hotel when I decided I needed some more. Ate a street vendor hot dog, puked in a parking lot, and drank in some Irish pub till they closed.

The grange hall in Taylorsville, CA has a spring loaded dance floor.

The OkieinKY is disappointed with the pop culture fans that missed the "tramampoline" reference. If the mods approve, I can ship, at my expense, a copy of the CD "Alabama Ass Whuppin" to the first poster that identifies the reference. I understand that Patterson Hood is ok with fans exchanging copies of this CD until DBT puts out a proper release. Mods, please delete if this post crosses the line.
