Thank you much. Do you know if there are going to be any bonus tracks? If so, do you know what they are?

No bonuses AFAIK

AFAIK??? Translation please???

Is there a "pinned" topic with acronyms around here?

AFAIK = "as far as I know"

I bought AAW and SRO at my first DBT show in December 2001. I look forward to getting this new version of AAW.

My purchase was serendipitous. I went looking online for this band named Drive-By Truckers based solely on the RS review of SRO after being unable to find their stuff in the local big-boxes (indie record stores are pretty much non-existent in my area). Google led me to a live version of Let There Be Rock (on the official website, perhaps?), as well as some other live bits, one of which was Too Much Sex/Too Little Jesus (at least, I think it was a live clip - the sands of time are quickly passing thru the hourglass); being the church-bashing type, that pretty much sold the live compilation as well. Timing is everything. For some reason, though, I never made it to a Rock Show until 2010.
Now it's dark.

Agreed. It is kind of peculiar that we're so close to the release date yet there's been no official mention of it via the DBT's website or their FB page.

Here ya go:

Alabama Ass Whuppin Reissue on September 10th!
August 14, 2013 at 10:51am
DRIVE-BY TRUCKERS REISSUE ALABAMA ASS WHUPPIN’ ON SEPTEMBER 10TH

“They’re Athens, GA, by way of Muscle Shoals guys, children of Skynyrd and Suicidal Tendencies’ “Institutionalized,” with sharp brains buried deep in the caterwaul.” - Spin 8 out of 10

“Alabama Ass-Whuppin’ is like a good truck-stop breakfast – it sticks with you a while.” Billboard, Dec. 2000

Athens, GA – ATO Records will reissue the Drive-By Truckers’ Alabama Ass Whuppin’ on September 10, 2013. Alabama Ass Whuppin’ is the band’s third album. Originally released in 2000, the record has been out of print for years. The album has been re-mastered and includes updated artwork by Wes Freed. This will also be the first time the album has been available on vinyl.

Alabama Ass Whuppin’ documents a specific time for the band. Recorded from March 1999 through August of 2000 in clubs across the southeast including Tasty Word, The High Hat, The Star Bar, The Caledonia Lounge and the 40 Watt.

“This was our third album and the connecting thread between our earlier work and the band that we went on to become later. It’s a documentation of a period in time that I wouldn’t go back to for all the money in the world, but I’m proud of the shows that we played and the songs that we wrote, “ says Patterson Hood.

The band is currently in the studio in Athens, GA recording their 12th record. ATO Records will release the record early 2014.

Pre-orders for the record will be available later this week at: http://www.drivebytruckers.com and itunes.

Awesome. I haven't spent a lot of time with this album, so it'll help tide me over until the release of DBT #12.

Good - I love that version of the song, and I love a little sloppy Skynyrd from a bar band.

Dammit, I was just going to ignore this one until I see that it's remastered and has new album art. I got lucky and got the original CD on eBay years ago for $16. Maybe I'll just buy the vinyl and call the rip of the CD on my iPod good enough.

Psyched for this! Hope the pre-order for the vinyl pops up soon. 9/10 is the day after my birthday! No-brainer. :D

Awesome news. I found the original album last year at Amoeba when I visit San Fran...bought it for $35. I think I might go for the vinyl of the re-issue. Nice new cover by Wes and all.

Which purchase option gives the band the most money? I was assuming it's through DBT site/Musictoday (where other DBT albums can be purchased), but looks like the DBT site is sending folks to iTunes? What about Amazon?

Would love to know how it ranks, but guessing it's:

1. DBT site/Musictoday (when available)
2. iTunes
3. Amazon

Yeah, I don't think I've ever purchased a CD or vinyl at a show with the exception of the "First Draft" version of Killers and Stars.

the problem with that is you have to do it on your way out the door otherwise you have to look after that shit for the whole show...

just stickin my head up to say its about time I bought this (well, a legit copy...) :)
I've never taken a pissbreak during a DBT show but if I had it would have been during Dancing Ricky.

I was kind of hoping for a Wes Freed version of the old artwork, but it is what it is
And I knew when I woke up Rock N Roll would be here forever
