My loser friends have bailed on me so I have 4 extra tickets for Sat. night. Face value. PM me if interested. Driving over from Atlanta hopefully in time to hit Nucci's.
In exactly 48 hours we're leaving for Athens! Plan on checking into the Holiday Inn Express, grabbing a bite to eat, and then rest a bit before heading to the 40 Watt. Last year we could only swing Friday/Saturday so really looking forward to the entire run this year!
Turn you demons into walls of goddamned noise and sound.
Damn, I knew I shouldn't have checked in on this thread. Between reading this, listening to BTCD this morning, and remembering the 2008 homecoming, I've become nostalgic. Y'all have a great time.

Thanks Jenn. I know Bubba's been nervous that he wouldn't be able to get decent hair product in Athens.

Nah, got a haircut instead, so it will be the short-haired version of moi you'll be seeing in just a couple of days. Had I known, I would have waited for Model Citizen, but Jenn's note was posted a day or 2 too late.
As it turns out, I have to go the NY/NJ area tomorrow for a down and back in a day trip, which has had the effect of making Athens seem a lot further away than it actually is, so i'm getting really antsy for that clock to move faster.
What used to be is gone and what ought to be ought not to be so hard
That's a great picture of Secretariat, Rod! Everyone be safe in your travels & have a fantastic time. Keep the rest of us unlucky heathens posted on the shenanigans. I got a reprieve w/this NE run. It won't be the same as Homecoming; but at least I ain't suckin' left-hind tit anymore.
A thousand clusterfucks will not kill my tiny light
Me three. That was the one thing I read out loud to my wife as I was reading the message. I guess this means there won't be an accoustic interlude this weekend or any time in the near future. Rock on.
Alright so I'm in Minneapolis for work...fly home to G'ville, SC first thing in the a.m. So I can drive in to Athens for the shows. I figure I need to wake up at around 3:15 am. So I REALLY need to get some sleep tonight...but I KNOW THAT IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN! What a dilemma
I mostly lurk on here, but if you see me say hey...I'm tall 6'3, glasses, and will most likely be wearing a black Home Front tour T-shirt for Thurs. night. Oh, and I'll look like I'm suffering from sleep deprivation.
Weather report is interesting for tomorrow. Looks like it's going to rain all day and there's a possibility of snow at some point in the evening. We were planning on walking everywhere since the Holiday Inn Express is a stones throw from everything but I don't like getting wet lol. Might have to call a cab!

Holler at Cab 8 and ask for Terry. He will keep you laughing all the way to wherever you're going.
Me and the Mrs. are looking forward to being there for Friday & Saturday, but will miss Thursday. Anyone planning to stream these shows?? Pretty please with sugar on top!

Tequila Cowboy wrote:That's pretty typical weather for Homecoming. It's been warmer and it's be ien much, much colder. The 2011 ice was rough but I also remeber it being 15 degrees coming out of the first night in 2009. 50 I can live with but I wouldnt mind if the rain holds off.
that 2011 ice storm was really rough, i spent that sat watching the playoff's at cutters & on the way to the 40 watt, slipped on some ice & busted. no visible injuries & all my friends were laughing their asses off'; however, i did smack my head on the sidewalk really good & i think i had a concussion cuz i can't remember that show at all!
I always thought Southerners were pansies when it came to snow and ice storms. Whether it was our Dallas or Georgia offices closing due to an inch of snow or so. That was until the wife and I pulled out of the Hartsfield. rental car facility in 2011 in route for Athens. It was slipping and white knuckle driving the entire way. I have never been so nervous driving. And i've driven through many 16-20 inch snow storms out here. Whatever road that was that you take from the Days Inn and Courtyard to the 40 Watt, was so difficult to walk. I definitely fell a couple of times.
I love these stories about the ice storm Homecoming. That's the only one that we have been to from Thursday until Sunday. I remember leaving here and things weren't so bad until I got just north of Macon. Once we hit Monticello it just got bad. The snow and ice had crept out into the road we were in my wife's Honda Civic. Patterson's story of White Knuckle West Va comes to mind as i felt like Cooley must have felt when he was trying to drive that Mazda through the ice and snow. That Thursday night we walked out of Cutter's and I glided/skated down the sidewalk on the ice. My wife was trying to tell me to stop, that I was gonna fall and bust it, but she couldn't stop laughing. There were several others watching and laughing, clearly out of towners there for the show as well, laughing at the big, somewhat intoxicated, redneck using his Red Wings like ice skates. How I didn't fal I'll never know. I did the same thing later after eating supper at the Grill. I can't wait for a burger, fries, and a Terrapin Gold at the grill early Friday evening before the show.
