that 2011 ice storm was really rough, i spent that sat watching the playoff's at cutters & on the way to the 40 watt, slipped on some ice & busted. no visible injuries & all my friends were laughing their asses off'; however, i did smack my head on the sidewalk really good & i think i had a concussion cuz i can't remember that show at all!
Just cause I don't run my mouth don't mean I got nothing to say...

I always thought Southerners were pansies when it came to snow and ice storms. Whether it was our Dallas or Georgia offices closing due to an inch of snow or so. That was until the wife and I pulled out of the Hartsfield. rental car facility in 2011 in route for Athens. It was slipping and white knuckle driving the entire way. I have never been so nervous driving. And i've driven through many 16-20 inch snow storms out here. Whatever road that was that you take from the Days Inn and Courtyard to the 40 Watt, was so difficult to walk. I definitely fell a couple of times.

yea that lil side road with the hill was really tough with ice all over....especially after a long nite drinking at the show. that might've been the same year i tried walking up the hill to the dazed's parking lot & slipped & got covered in mud....yea i'm sorta clumsy

So it took me 17 hours to get cross country via plane on the day I was supposed to load a truck to move 2 states away and while waiting the truck company called to say they don't have my truck. It was not a banner day but thru the healing power of music and knowing we are five days from sweat, beer and rock n roll I made it. Now to get the truck tomorrow and listen to the dbt catalog on the drive and prepare more for therawk show. God bless the healing power of music and this band.
I am super excited! On another note, If anyone has an extra Friday ticket please let me know. My buddy missed out on tickets while he was in Japan and forgot to purchase one.
Gettin' close! I'm also looking for Friday tickets. My Mom and sister will be indoctrinated that night, assuming I find them tickets. I also have a buddy looking for one. So if anybody has 1, 2, or 3 extras please PM me. Thanks. Looking forward to seeing all y'all.
Hey all! Just wanted to say I'm excited to see everyone again this year and I hope you guys have a safe, fun time in Athens! Please let me know if you are coming to the shows and need some sort of assistance. I'm working on places for those who can't stand and trading tickets for those who need it.
I'd also like to add some good places to the list of Athens awesomeness. First off, the new Pulaski Heights BBQ - it's pretty dang good. Less southern, more cuisine, nice atmosphere. I like the pulled pork sandwich a lot, and the smoked potato salad - it's expensive though, so be prepared. Second - East West Bistro. I am biased perhaps because my man works there, but since they got new chef BJ Bracewell, it's been fantastic every time I've gone. Also somewhat expensive, but a good place to have lunch or dinner if you're out. As always, I highly recommend you check out Tlaloc El Mexicano - frickin' delicious.
If you happen to need hair products or to patch up your hair after that late-night drunken escapade with the scissors, be sure to give Model Citizen some business, and don't forget the awesome Avid Bookshop right next door - of course, we appreciate you supporting ANY of our local businesses!
That's all for now... except... THUNDERCRACK~!!~!!!~!!!!!! (Kapaowwwww!) -jenn
2 days in Kentucky for the Bourbon tours. 2 days in Nashville, why not, it's on the way to Athens. 3 nights of Rock Shows. NFC Championship game, maybe.
First time in Athens and I really can't wait for Thursday.
Sure wish I could be there. Both kids have important swim meets so I am going to miss the whoe shebang. Maybe next year. Any extra t-shirts for sale I am willing to buy.
