Quicklist: Unreleased Songs You Wanna See Recorded

Post by Smitty »

1. Three on the Tree
2. Standing in the Sunshine (For Vic)
3. Airplane Screams
4. Grudge Fuck
5. Don't Cock Block the Rock

The way I treated you so cruel,
The way I ran around and played you for a fool,
The way I chose to set you free,
Makes you wanna grudge fuck me.

The way I ran you deep in debt,
The anniversaries and birthdays I'd forget,
The way I'd always disagree,
Makes you wanna grudge fuck me.

Makes you wanna grudge fuck me.
Makes you wanna grudge fuck me.

The way I always doubted you,
Dreams we shared that I never made come true,
The way I wrecked your LTD,
Makes you wanna grudge fuck me.

The way I laid your sister Pam,
The way I never bought you earrings down at Sam's,
Leave the seat up when I'd pee,
Makes you wanna grudge fuck me.

Makes you wanna grudge fuck me.
Makes you wanna grudge fuck me.
Makes you wanna grudge fuck me.
Makes you wanna grudge fuck me
Stick it in, stick it in, stick it in

And if we're including Jason's material:

Crystal Clear
Superman

I'm pretty sure there's a studio version of Crystal Clear floating around out there. I'd love to hear Superman. The only version I've heard is a bad quality live recording.

Yeah, I have the studio version of Crystal Clear, it its a demo and you can tell by how it sounds. I guess I should have clarified that I'd love to get a quality studio recording.

Blue Law Blues

Mean Old Rattler

Superman

The song Cooley played at one of his solo gigs this year. Sounded like he hadn't fisnished it but what he had was great.

I've never heard Crystal Clear. I've seen people reference it here a lot so it must be really good. Where can I find it on the interweb?

A studio take of People Who Died would be swell.

Although they've never seen the light of day, the SRO demos the band recorded at Pudd's house included recordings of "Three On The Tree" and "Airplane Screams". Would LOVE to hear them!

In the summer of 1999, Jyl Freed mentioned on the Yahoo list that Cooley was visiting Richmond the next week to record with Dirtball, and that they were going to record "Blue Law Blues" with him. No idea if that ever happened.

SHAME!

I'm pretty sure the band recorded "Don't Be In Love Around Me" at the same session at the High Hat that produced the official release version of "Nine Bullets" and "Zoloft", but eventually left it off "Pizza Deliverance" for "The President's Penis Is Missing." I believe that information came from Brandon Haynie, a close friend of the band who used to post frequently on the Yahoo list in the early days.

i think it would be great if there were links for some of these songs and maybe a little bit on information, like what show it came from and was it a Patterson Hood solo joint or a DBT thing, etc.

The Mountain
Three on the Tree
Superman
Crystal Clear

Does anyone have a copy of "The Mountain"? Only way I know to listen to it is through OOTD. I tried to DL the linked Crystal Clear WMA but the song that downloaded isn't Crystal Clear, it's The Assassin. Hmm.

Also, does anyone know where to find a copy of "Whisper"? I've got a live version of it, poor quality. It's listed on the Sirens of the Ditch album on iTunes but it say's "Album Only". I bought the CD and it's not on mine. Thanks in advance.

Sweet, thanks smitty. Glad to see Blue Law Blues on there as well!

Also, this may be old news to most but www.listentoyoutube.com allows you to turn youtube videos to mp3 files. Pretty cool deal.

Too soon for a DBTs box set? Considering the hiatus it may just be the perfect time.

All these songs sound amazing, I would love to hear them all either as is, live, or rerecorded..

Hopefully we won't have to wait 30 years for the Ultra Mega Box Set of every album on vinyl, every b-side, a 200 page book with lyrics, liner notes, Wes Freed art, Horse Pussy and Virgil Kane secret recordings called "It's Great To Be Alive"'.

I will be 60 then, and Bob Dylan will more than likely be departed. This makes me infinitely sad.

I still kind of think we're going to see "Don't Be In Love Around Me" on the next record.
