Does anyone know any specifics on this place? The web page doesn't mention too much.

How many people does it hold?
Good beer?
Cool staff?
for a few hours, I'm 19 years old and rock and roll is the only thing that matters.

The friends I'm staying with in DeKalb said it's a pretty small place. Isbell played there a year or so ago to a pretty small crowd, and they wouldn't be surprised if the DBT show is similar.

Lots of good beer on tap, though.

Exactly what I wanted to hear. Good beer and intimacy. (Not like the crap at the Vic a few months back)

Dee Dee - yes - Best Western is the 3DD HQ, and, we're hitting a bar called Lord Stanley's beforehand (5-ish sounds about right).

howdy kids...first post in the new digs and it pleases me to no end to have it appear in a thread regarding a show which i fully expect to be a cat 5 throwdown. a little history, some of us here know this already but it bears pointing out:

flash back to the summer of '06. DBT is opening for the Crowes playing half-empty sheds. In the midst of that they played one club show as a headliner, at The Beaumont Club in KC. A DVD exists of this show and it's a damn good one. I think the gang is having alot more fun on the current tour than that one but nevertheless i think attendees to DeKalb are going to be treated to a band with a ton of excess energy to burn. i think we've got an excellent chance at a good old-fashioned marathon Rock Show.

my first show was fall '04 at the High Noon Saloon. Otto's is around my 30th show and probably the smallest room I've seen them in since that first one. that is a huge reason why i will be there.

anyway, many of your favorite and least favorite Wisconsin drunkards will be making this show. tix bought/ room booked, not sure which hotel as this was not my department on this run. it will definitely be one of the places on Lincoln. i can tell you we will be hitting town way early and i'm sure we will see some of you at the adjacent watering holes preshow. we're going for maximum breakage this time out. the rubber pants might make it into the briefcase for this one.

haven't read this entire thread yet. is there an opener? i kinda hope not. saw them at Shank Hall once with no opener and it was pretty badass. and I'm a guy that normally likes openers. unless it's American Minor. i'm still pissed about that one.

Welcome drtpants! I have that dvd of the kansas show and you are correct--it is damn good. Has great sound and whoever filmed it did a good job.

No opener. It's billed as "an evening with the Drive-By Truckers".

Any idea how Otto's compares to High Noon, size wise? High Noon's pretty small (great venue, though).

Otto's and the Nooner look to be of comparable size. Otto's may even be smaller. i'm thinking it's fire coded in the neighborhood of 500 if that. no one here knows exactly? balcony?

I was there in 05. Upper level on the sides had table seating. Not sure about the back.

I had seen it quoted at 450 capacity somewhere. Either way, can't wait to tear up Otto's again.

Even though its only an hour drive from home I've elected to stay at The Best Western down the street as well. With dog and wife. Another contigent of hardcore DBT fans will be meeting me over there.

I can't wait to see the boys again. Haven't seen them since Lexington in the spring.

it's gonna be so choice seeing seeing the Mighty Ones in such a small room with all these veteran badasses in attendance. as soon as this show was announced there was no question i'd be there. love the low set stage at Otto's. Punk Rock, man. Punk Fucking Rock.

Good to see you Drt! Thought maybe you gave up on us. see you Sun.

btw, American Minor was the first Truckers opener I ever saw. Did not set the bar very high...

Well, the beer spillage is considerably less if you make sure not to stand in front of Juan.

But, in any case, I'll be in Oakland at ye olde Neil Young show.
