Re: New Years Eve in NYC
Baseline ticketing says all ages, ticketmaster says nothing about ages, Myspace says 21+. Do not fuck with me. Please tell me this is not 21+.
edit: Terminal 5 site says all ages too. In that case, even though I've known for 2 months, WOOOOOOOOOO

In my blood, there's gasoline..
Re: New Years Eve in NYC
I would love to do this one, but new years eve in NY is usually a nightmare. did it a couple of times when I was much younger and faster. Not sure I would want to do it now though.
Re: New Years Eve in NYC
I was born and raised in New england...I finally got the f out of there in 05 and now the DBT play New years eve in NYC....we lived 2.5 hrs from there!!?!?!?! To the best of my knowledge...they rarely went that far north!!! So, I mention to my husband about this show and he says well lets just go! I say what??? It's in NYC!! He says yea, we'll just catch a plane and go!! He hates winter in the northern states and so do I...we never go back to visit our family at the time of the year for fear of snow and/or cold temps..but he said lets just go!! Hmmmmmmmmmmm...Damn you DBT! You should know better than to be in the north in December!!! WTF??? It's so tempting!!! Should we, shouldn't we, should we? Argh~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Why can't you you just play here in Athens on NYE?!?!?
I wasn't born in the south but I got here as soon as I could!!

Re: New Years Eve in NYC
Anybody know what happened to the 12/30 show? Are they still planning to do both nites?
I'm pretty sure i'm gonna be there (subject to the usual finger crossing, knocking on wood, etc etc) but i'm not sure my wife knew i was being serious when i mentioned it, lol. Plus there are the dozen or so people who gave me the old "yeah, sure" when i asked if they wanted to do this. I really wasn't expecting to have to get commitments from people this early but i guess i'll have to see what's up and who's in.
BC, the secret to enjoying NYC on NYE is to avoid Times Square like the plague, and happily enough, w/ a little planning that should be very do-able for this show.

NYE in NYC (my home town!!!) with the Truckers or Athens in January 2011 three nights? Would love to do both, however...NYE is the busiest night at my fucking job, chances of getting off? Slim. But who knows...maybe...wish I could just work for the band and be with them everywhere.

Re: New Years Eve in NYC
a good option is booking a room out at Newark, cheaper rates and the trains run all night...
some people did that for the MMJ show on NYE and it worked out perfectly. problem is it's hard to avoid Times Square when Terminal 5 is so close to there but if you take the train in from Newark, you can just jump on the subway at 33rd street instead of 42nd street and bypass it altogether..
that's just my .02

Just bought my tickets. But it's too long to wait for DBT to be back in the area and I'll have to find a show before then!

Re: New Years Eve in NYC
I'm thinking about it. I haven't actually gone out on NYE for about ten years. I both hate it (NYE) and feel sorry for myself. And this wouldn't be the same old same old disappointment.
So...thinking about it.

Have never been to NYC. Thinking about going up and staying with a friend in Jersey and going to the show.

Well done, girl! My wife's reasoning was similar to yours ("we never do anything for NYE and this sounds like fun"). In just a few hrs we are already 6 and i'm hoping for 12 or more - expect to buy tix in a day or so. Fingers and everything else crossed, of course.

I do hope they add a show on the 30th. Always better to travel these distances for more than one. But, if not...it's New York Citay! I'll just go out with Jimmy and Beth.

I bought a ticket. Can't say I'm positive on this but I'm going to try to make it happen.

That's right. I'm up for going to DC if I'm not going to Nashville that week. I'll keep you posted.

Re: New Years Eve in NYC
from my experience, NYE isn't THAT bad in NYC..as long as you stay away from Times Square, you're fine.
in general but more so since the recession, a lot of people like to stay in that night..just don't think it'll be as crazy as people think
NYE w/MMJ at MSG went off w/out a hitch..no one had any probs
just jealous i won't be there..
