I can tell by her lips, she's got fucked-up teeth.
Got a banged up grill like she just hit a deer

greatest opening line ever.

C'mon, man. You've got the master code for the decoder ring in a safe buried beneath your bomb shelter. You're totally grandfathered, even if u were ever to catch up to me on total btb's, not that that's very likely.

After "well my daddy didn't pull out, but he never apologized/rock and roll means well but it can't help telling young boys lies".

Randomly threw in It's Great to be Alive and this track comes on. Thank you DBT for cheering me up on such a shitty Friday I have had so far. ;)

I watched the official lyric video a couple of weeks ago and it came off like this tour really sucks but at least there's girls who smoke. ;)

I once used "You know what they say about girls who smoke" as a chat up line. It worked right up to the point things got "complicated..." :D

The best way to get aquainted with The Hold Steady would be to acquire their first 4 albums, and then listen to them in chronological order at extremely loud volumes on a long road trip.

When you get to your destination, you're going to want to drink heavily and fornicate.
Never has my 10 year obsession with The Hold Steady been so concisely expressed.

"Fuck 'em if they can't take a joke" indeed! Isn't that the point?!

I love this song for what it is. I love it live. I love to blast it in my car. I love it right between Birthday Boy and Three Dimes Down on IGTBA. Most of all I love the way it makes me feel young(er) again. Chasing those girls who smoke!

Yes! Might be my favorite 3-song sequence from all three records.

My wife just started a local chapter of Girls Who Code in our area. Girls Who Code is a program for female high school students interested in science, engineering, and computer coding. The group meets once per week.

Everytime my wife reminds me of an upcoming Girls Who Code meeting I start singing "do-do-dodo-do" in my head, then this song is stuck on repeat in my brain!
