After each coinciding DBT concert and bender I'm always amazed that I don't wake up in a hotel somewhere with a Cooley bird tattoo'd on me somewhere. Well, there's still time...

Since this topic was resurrected I figured I would post a pic of my DBT tattoo. The guitar was my grandfathers who passed away shortly before I got the tattoo.

I was wondering whether my reaction was homophobic, shonnaphobic or androgynousphobic. Or hell, maybe all 3.

Homophobic would be closing your eyes and thinking of Shonna. Shonnaphobic would making him wear gloves. Androgynousphobic would be enjoying the experience, but hating that you can't determine the gender of the perpetrator. Hopefully this helps.

Very helpful. You might want to copyright that.

Roland just answered the question of what kind of DBT tattoo will be right for me - the "stained glass Cooley bird" fits my style and fits in with the rest of my other tattoos (rather feminine) really nicely. I dig Wes Freed's work so much but I'm afraid out of context it wouldn't look right *on me* - looks awesome on others of y'all. I'm gonna start my saving up for this piece right now!

So I think this is gonna be the image I go with - any thoughts, comments, or criticisms are welcomed. Because if you don't like it, we all know whose damn fault it will be...

Honest thought?

That's a lot of green without much going on.
The dragons in the sky look completely out of place.
The color contrast from the sky to the water is pretty cool

I think you're trying to do too much with one tattoo. All three things are really cool on their own, but when they're put together, it gets a bit diluted because none really have anything to do with the other.

I'd settle on one of the three. Just my opinion---feel free to say "go to hell, newbie!"

I'm about 8 hours into the work I'm having done, with about another 8 to go. It looks NOTHING like my original idea. At this point, it would have to be classified as "inspired by Wes Freed's art for DBT". That being said, it's pretty badass.

The succubus in the boat has transformed into

Image

She's about 95% complete (still need to fix the hand and add a tail), then onto the head(s) rising from the water and the background. I'm leaning against the Dragon Pants creatures at this point, may instead go with a single white owl somewhere in the milieu.

Hey all.
First post here. Have lurked for a while here and there.
Figured this was a good thread to post in for the first time.
From 4 years ago. W.A. are the initials of a friend who died in a car accident the day before I got this.
Pretty basic, but it has strong sentimental value.
