Sorry folks but I spaced and forgot about song of the week (2 days late is better than never!).

This little gem can get overlooked amongst all of The Fine Print's heavy hitters like Uncle Frank, TVA and Play It All Night Long. But I heard it the other morning in my car and it's a great song to crank up on a warm day with the windows down (which is appropriate, given the content). Also fyi - according to One of These days.com (where I got the lyrics) it hasn't been played live since January 2010.

He had a real estate investment with a developer in Enteprise, AL who went to prison because he plead guilty to bribing state legislators in an effort to legalize video bingo. Most of his co-defendants went to trial but were found not guilty. It was a big case in AL.

x2 with a bullet! Neff is huge on this tune. I don't believe this one can get overlooked to much in my opinion. It's one of my favorites on the album after Mrs. Claus Kimono, both Isbell tracks and Goode's Field Road (alt. version).

A few years ago I was sitting about 3 or 4 cars back at a red light. I was in a a panic that day cause I was having
equipment problems and the people that sold me the equipment didn't have the parts in stock
Anyways the light turned green and the cars started to move. Just as I started to move I glanced down at my phone
and the car in front of me hit it's brakes smash. Needless to say GJTCPB has been my ring tone ever since.

I first heard this and "Goode's Field Road" at the second Pine Hill Farm concert in Durham back in 2002. At the time I wasn't sure if they'd end up on a Patterson solo record or a Truckers album but I'm glad they both saw the light of day as official releases eventually. I still prefer the original version of "Goode's Field Road", probably because that's the one that became etched in my memory first.

When a band's b-side material is right up there with their a-side stuff I think it's only a testament to their talent. I believe that's very true of this tune.

From the mid seventies into the early eighties, George was living in Florence. My roomate at the time had a Lincoln and was getting it worked on at the local dealership. George was having his worked on at the same time. In Alabama you only have a license plate on the back. You can put anything you want on the front. He said George had one of those "Eat More Possum" on his. My roomate, knowing I was a fan, got his autograph for me. I was walking out the front doot to go to work as he got home. He gave it to me and I put in the front pocket of my shirt. I was running a record store in the mall in Muscle Shoals at the time. It was right across the street from FAME Studios. I'd been at work for a couple of hours and was standing at the door of the store watching people walk by, when who walks in the mall but George himself. He starts walking right towards me. As he does, I pulled the piece of paper with his autograph out of my pocket and start to hand it to him. As I do he reaches in his shirt pocket and pulls out his pen. Probably the same pen he signed the autograph with earlier. He thinks I'm asking for his autograph as I hand him the paper. He goes to sign it and sees his name is already on it. He looks at me with this look of WTF is going on? I see his look and immediately go, Mr. Jones my friend got that for me earlier in the day. He just said, "Thank you boy, I thought I was going crazy!" We both got a good laugh out of it. He was still laughing and shaking his head as he walked away. That autograph hangs in Deep Groove here in Richmond today.
