4/21 The Tabernacle, Atlanta (Record Store Day)

Post by Penny Lane »

Starting a new thread for this.

Is there definitely an in-store performance at Criminal Records? Anyone know what time?

You won't like the $10 Bud Lights at the Tabby though. Be prepared to pre-game.

BTW - :? I ain't gonna crawl up on no high horse...cause I've been in similar positions and still made trips for rock shows and not my business and not trying to dissuade you BUT...... just you know...make sure you ain't got kids to feed or noth'in first.

This is insanely irresponsible and potentially dangerous.

But in a weird way, I admire you for it.

No doubt about the therapeutic nature of a Rock Show when you're down... I really wasn't trying to judge his decision to come at all. Like I said I've been in somewhat similar positions myself when it maybe wasn't the best time financially to make a trip to see a show but I sure needed one so i went anyway. i can empathize with that for sure. But at the same time i made sure my priorities were taken care of too. I don't know dbtfanan4life's full situation, i don't know him/her personally, so its none of my business to make any kind of judgement. I was simply trying to say "hey I understand your situation, but make sure you got anyone dependent on you covered first."

"I don't know God, but I fear his wrath" strikes closer to home for me than any other of the song's lyrics.

I would do the same damn thing. What've you got to lose? Fuck it. Get your soul renewed with a life-affirming rock show and harness all that energy to regroup and re-start. More power to you.

I'm in for the show and hopefully for Record Store Day at Criminal as well. Has a pre-show spot been established yet?

BTW DBTfan4life, let me know how to find you at the show and your first round is on me. I know how a great show can make everything seem better for a night and at least let you feel good just for a little while. I'm in need of a great show as well as the love of my life and I are going through some hard times right now. It's going to be tough for me to be there without her tomorrow night, our first show together was homecoming/go go boots release two years ago and we danced to Mercy Buckets in the middle of the crowd at the 40 watt. It's a memory that never fails to bring me joy and tears every time I think of it. But here lately the song World of Hurt has been helping me to get through especially this line-

Remember, it ain't too late to take a deep breath and throw yourself into it with everything you got.

I'm in. I can't wait. One of my biggest regrets is not seeing DBT and the Hold Steady play together at the Tabernacle in 08. Instead, I went to a very disappointing World's Largest Cocktail Party.

Thank goodness I decided to take a detour on the way home to see DBT/THS in Tallahassee. My favorite concert ever, even though DBT was off their game.

The only local dbt show I ever missed was this show. I had met a girl the weekend before and this night was the only night we could go on our first date for a few weekends I asked her if she wanted to go and she decided that wouldn't be a good first date, so I missed the show. That same woman will be there with me tomorrow night as my wife. I suppose I made the right decision. 8-)

Regarding pre game. Our crew will be at the sidebar. Good tots, beer and a jukebox. Plus it's far enough from Phillips to avoid some of the UFC stupidity.

Hey all!

Long time sporadic visitor to these boards but first time poster. Also, tomorrow will be my first DBT show! I'm so excited. My biggest regret of college is never seeing a DBT show the many times they were performing in Athens while I was there. I kept hearing about them but didn't know much about them. I finally checked them out (Southern Rock Opera was my gateway) right before my last semester at UGA. That was 2005. I've been waiting 7 years to see them live. I saw Jason Isbell for the first time at Suwanee Springfest last month so now my two "most wanted" concerts have finally happened.

My brother-in-law and I are driving up from South Georgia (Moultrie) for the show. I want to try to make it to Criminal too, but I'm not sure if we will. We had already planned to do the Sweetwater Brewery tour. Not sure if we'll be able to get to Atlanta in time to do both tomorrow.
