Tom, we'll be taping, but I'm not sure where the best spot is because I've never taped in the sound stage, only the theater, unless you count the stealth job for the Dead Weather! I'm going to arrive early and so how close I can get to the center by the soundboard. Matt's usually cool if you don't get in his sight lines. Otherwise, I don't know. I'd have to ask one of my friends who've taped in that room where the best place is. I'll post something if I hear from them.
Hey everyone this is my first post. I am from Birmingham and wanted to give some suggestions for what to do if you are visiting.
For BBQ you cannot beat Saw's in Homewood, get a half chicken/pork plate you won't be disappointed. If you are looking for a place to drink after the show i recommend checking out Martys in Southside. They have a killer hamburger and usually have a good late night band, its more of a chill place though. Hope everyone has a good weekend and see you at the show.
I look forward to hearin' these shows. Thanks in advance. Wish I had my shit together. I maybe coulda made this weekend. I'd be a single man; but sometimes things happen for a reason. Have fun you lucky suckers.
A thousand clusterfucks will not kill my tiny light
Not sure what I'm gonna do on a long Truckers weekend without you, SlipKid!
All checked in, long layover in Baltimore, will be sporting my Hood/Cooley shirt for the trip. Hope airport security doesn't put me on a subversive music watch list.
2 and 1/2 months is WAY too long..not looking forward to this 'break' year..
So our church's music director, currently sidelined due to a nasty set of grease burns all over his shins, offered me the use of his car for the weekend (when you see a picture of my dad's old truck [next week], you'll understand why I'm not taking it). Then something came up at work that kept me from leaving for tonight's show, and anyway, it sold out, but I'm going to take off early tomorrow for Saturday's show. Advice on reasonably cheap, reasonably non-crappy (I don't mind the Daze in Athens at all--it's got internet and no bedbugs) hotel rooms will be gratefully received.
(This all assumes I do better driving a stick than I did the last time I tried, which, come to think of it, was in Birmingham, in 2001, when I was thinking about buying a Miata and ended up with an Eclipse. Man, I loved that car.)
The sooner we put those assholes in the grave&piss on the dirt above it, the better off we'll be
Don't know if there's open WIFI at Workplay. Big Tom, look for Dennis Tyler, a TDS taper that should be there tonight. He knows Workplay and the best spot to tape from. I don't know if Dennis streams, however.
Come by and say hi tomorrow. Look for the red mics.

Sorry but no public wifi here in the sound stage room where DBT is playing. What I can do is stream tonight's show tomorrow afternoon from my recording.

My friend Dennis was supposed to be there and Big Tom is taping, I believe. We will be running audio and attempting video Saturday. I say "attempting" video because we've never taped open in the big room. Probably try a two camera thing.
