So what happened with the stolen backdrop?

Post by bovine knievel »

I apologize in advance if the outcome to the story has been revealed already in one of the threads. :?

But I gotta know what happened. Anybody have the skinny?

I think it's been long enough now that hopefully the House of Blues has turned the evidence tape over to the authorities and someone will find the guy. I'm sure DBT's management aren't the only people working on it. Personally I agree with Mr. JPW that we need to get that tape and make the dude internet infamous, but I'm not in control of such things...

Has to be done by the book. Otherwise the creep would sue the band. Let the cops deal with it

Phuck the book! The book ain't doing its job. Sorry
Let's say the tape "comes up missing" and we go with Jenn's plan and make him Internet Infamous.

No question this jackass deserves to be punished. He's not worthy of a DBT song, though. At this point, it's probably what he's hoping for.

We don't know anything about the investigation. However, I am sure the House of Blues has its own security staff that works closely with the Police Department. Someone from the detective bureau will be assigned the case if/when DBT decides to press charges. Given the amount of information the band has about the guy along with the video tape, it shouldn't be too hard for a trained investigator to nail the guy. The band was gracious enough to give the guy a chance to come forward on his own. He didn't even have to come forward, all he had to do was mail the artwork. Only the band knows the amount of time they were going to allow.

We've done our part here. We let the band know we are behind them, even offered to cover the cost. Short of bringing a casserole down to Athens, we did everything good neighbors do when a family in the neighborhood has their house broken into. I am sure gestures like that help a whole lot more than making a bunch of threats.

That's too bad, I was hoping it was going to be somebody waking up with a hangover the next day, see the backdrop, and think, "Oh shit, what did I do?" and then promptly returned it with an apology.

Hey folks, I'm a little late to the party, and this is news to me. Just read Patterson's letter to the fuck stick low life on DBT's site...

So did they ever recover the stolen backdrop?
I'd like to say I'm sorry, I'd like to say I'm sorry, I'd like to say I'm sorry...BUT I AIN'T SORRY!

I received a letter this week from DBT's management in NYC. The backdrop wasn't recovered but the club reimbursed the band for the cost of the backdrop. My guess is that HOB has their own investigator on the case.

What a bummer. I was really hoping they'd get it back. Seriously, what is someone going to do with it anyway? You stole something, who you going to show it off to? All your thief friends?? That really stinks, but I'm glad they were reimbursed (if only financially).

The people who lose out are the fans. The art work is also part of the experience and it is always great to see Wes Freed's work up close. If you want a Wes Freed piece, his prices are quite reasonable for an original painting. He also sells prints from time to time. And if you buy a piece you can put it on your Facebook, hang it in your living room and brag to all of your friends. Can't really do that if you steal it.

i was told it was the fortune teller one
and wes freed 'redid' it.
not the same as having it returned
but wes seems pretty awesome.
so it's again part of the experience.
