Here is the official press release written by "The Big Guy."

ThunderCrack!

On Thursday, February 2, ThunderCrack will perform a legendary set at the Fabulous 40 Watt. The Drive-by Truckers road crew (including Jay Gonzalez and Brad’s twin brother Ted Morgan) will compete in the Nuci’s Space sponsored, Athens Business Rocks battle of the bands performing Bruce Springsteen covers. In the competition, different businesses from around town form bands and perform cover songs to raise money for Nuci’s Space. You can vote for ThunderCrack! by making a donation at http://www.athensbusinessrocks.com/vote-for-bands/. In addition to making a donation, by telling the fine folks at the door you are there to see ThunderCrack, you will be voting for us to win. Thanks for supporting a great cause and we hope to see you at one of the most legendary performances the town has ever seen!

I'm pretty sure there's a rule against calling your own performance "legendary" especially before it happens

But I have no doubts that it will become legendary and I wish u guys the best of luck!!

if only they were an AC/DC covers band:

I was caught
In the middle of a railroad track (Thunder)
I looked 'round,
And I knew there was no turning back (Thunder)
My mind raced
And I thought what could I do? (Thunder)
And I knew
There was no help, no help from you (Thunder)
Sound of the drums
Beatin' in my heart
The thunder of guns!
Tore me apart
You've seen- thunder crack!

Rode down the highway
Broke the limit, we hit the ton
Went through to Texas, yeah Texas
And we had some fun
We met some girls,
Some dancers who gave a good time
Broke all the rules, played all the fools
Yeah, yeah, they, they, they blew our minds
And I was shakin' at the knees
Could I come again please.
Yeah the ladies were too kind
You've seen- thunder crack, thunder crack
Yeah yeah yeah, thunder crack
Oh, thunder crack, yeah
Yeah

Now we're shaking at the knees
Could I come again please.
Thunder crack, thunder crack
Yeah yeah yeah, thunder crack
Thunders crack, yeah, yeah, yeah
Said yeah, it's alright
We're! Doing fine
Yeah, it's alright
We're! Doing fine
So fine

etc

I've never taken a pissbreak during a DBT show but if I had it would have been during Dancing Ricky.

"Thundercrack" is the name of a Bruce Springsteen song. It's on the Tracks collection. It was a major highlight of many of the shows during the last tour.

...who knew?

I'm not a huge fan of the Brucemonster General, just casual

I am still going to be singing "Thunder crack" instead of Thunderstruck next time that song comes on rotation at the gym though

I wouldn't say it was a major highlight of many shows on the last tour because they didn't play it that many times but when they did it killed. It was one of the show stopping pieces of the early E-Street Band and they stopped playing it in 73-74. It wasn't brought back by the E-Street Band until the Magic tour however it first came back in 2001 at the holiday shows in Asbury Park. I happened to be there and it was one of the biggest holy shit moments I've ever had. He also brought Seaside Bar song back that night. Fuck yeah.

My recollection was that Thundercrack was one of the 3 or 4 rarities they played in semi "rotation" during that tour, but I defer to your greater knowledge. They did play it one of the nites in Boston and it was a hilite for sure.

I was att one of those shows too! And yeah, it was probably the highlight of the evening - along with Bruce opening things up by playing Incident solo at the piano. :)
