Sorry so late in posting about this but it was a real treat to see some ThunderCrack last Thurs night. It was also the first time I'd entered the 40 Watt as a sober person. It was a whole new experience?! They did a terrific job (special shout out to Matt on vocals) covering Bruce--did this (transplanted) NJ girl proud. It was also very surreal to be at a non-DBT show and see PH in the front row cheering them on and look over and see (not only Jay and Brad on stage but) David Barbe and Don Chambers there, as well as Walker from Dead Confederate and half the Futurebirds just kinda hanging out, watching.. Athens music royalty...I was kind of in awe. What a great music town and I think they raised a fair amount of money for Nucci's.
There were some other notable acts who performed such as the Walmartians and the Motley Crue cover band (name escapes me) but they did a few treats such as Shout to the Colonel (fried CX on stage and everything) and (hope i'm not screwing this) Ribs that Kill (yes had ribs on stage)..I forgot the 3rd song, maybe Too fast/fat for love? uh huh..can't remember but what a great night. Didn't get to the other 2 nights but can only imagine. I had heard Brad's wife Kimberly was in one of the acts on Sat.
I happened to be in Athens last weekend (first time) so I got a chance to see the almighty Thundercrack! They did a great job and in true truckers form they were LOUD! I wend back for a little bit on saturday and got a chance to see Scott Baxendale's band play as well as group Kimberly Morgan was playing in. They also did a great job. Patterson was judge on Saturday night and one of the bands did songs about trains just for the occasion. It was a great weekend. Athens is really a cool place!
