help me out with Robert Ellis

Post by frontrow »

I guess he is the opening act for the west coast tour.

Any one got any comments?
I would love to hear why I should look forward to this.

I'm not being negative, just looking for some info.

Thanks,
see you in Vancouver!

24 year old Texan who is puttting out some great old school country music. Photographs is the name of his album and also the best tune on a pretty solid album.

He is opening for Hayes Carll on Friday and we are going to catch him then, so I will report back! BTW my friend saw him in Houston and loves him, FWIW.

I've seen him open for the Old 97s and another time open for Jason and James McMurtry--
he's old school country, sort of resembles Shooter Jennings...has some really pretty slower songs..

I picked up Photographs this summer and have had a difficult time fully warming up to it. The first half is breezy, Laurel Canyon-influenced folk music and the second half is more your classic country vibe. I want to like it more than I do. I'm guessing he will lean heavier on the country vibe opening for The Truckers.

Interesting. Like Penny I saw him open for Old 97s. I'd never heard of him and the only samples I could find were fairly tame solo accoustic tunes. He had a pretty hot band with him the night I saw him and I wish I'd shown up to see the entire set. What I saw was pretty smoking.
