Yes! Get him on board. Any friend of Flea is a friend of mine. But maybe let him know that PH is not an apologist for GW? That fired me up a bit.

Yes that sounds like the perfect prescription.

Lurleen asked me how he could be shooting lightening from his fingers and I suggested he might secretly be a Dark Lord of the Sith. She had no idea what I was talking about.
We call him Scooby Do, but Scooby doesn’t do. Scooby, is not involved

I like science fiction she likes dirty housewives or whatever that shit is called. It's an arrangement. The more important thing is that she is quicker to pounce on doable DBT shows than I am and when I have an opportunity to catch a show by myself when I'm traveling for work, as is the case for the Cat's Cradle show coming up, while I might think it's questionable to go without her, she would be pissed at me if I didn't. Plus the rest of our taste in music is pretty much in lock step. That's way more important to me. Plus it also means I can annoy her with my Yoda voice from time to time. Mmm horrible housewives you watch, silly that is...

While it is all kinds of wrong that she didn't know, the real answer to her question is, "Because he's David Barbe."

From American Songwriter, you have to create an account to read this but it's free. It's also well worth the couple minutes or so that it may take.

Drive-By Truckers Do America

^^^ Great Read ^^^

“No, I’ve never been worried about [offending listeners],” Cooley explains the next day, one rotation around the sun and one massacre later. “I think [listeners that would get offended] are in the minority. I think there have been people out there that have maybe missed the point, because a lot of these things have been in our material, they just have never been on the surface. They’ve never been right out there and as plainly spoken. They’ve always been part of a larger picture or part of a larger story in the context of a fictional character. I think there are folks that missed the point and maybe thought we had different leanings, so this is making it clear.

“I think people became fans because we didn’t seem to care about whether or not anybody liked it, I think that was part of what drew people to it, so why stop now? [laughs] Honey, this is what you loved about me when we met. Why is it all of a sudden a problem?”

Patterson interviewed in Consequence of Sound: http://consequenceofsound.net/2016/09/e ... rson-hood/

and on Steven Hyden's Celebration Rock podcast: http://www.93x.com/category/celebration-rock/

The podcast is probably the better interview, as Hyden's a fan and it felt like the CoS interview featured the same talking points we've heard often of late.

I've read several articles alluding to how well American Band is selling relative to the other records. Sure seems that one of the unexpected consequences of the election is that it ramped up interest in DBT. They were the Resistance before there was a Resistance and there's not a whiff of bandwagon jumping for the haters on the left or the right to latch onto. And now they're the official "Dance Band of the Resistance" as PH so humorously put it! So is 45's election going to turn out to be the best thing to ever happen to DBT's career? Is my head going to explode?

Don't try to lure me into a maze of circular logic. I used to work for the phone company. As Mr. Bumble so eloquently declared, "The law is a ass."
