Per facebook. Line em up and get your livers ready!!!!

Y'ALL:

It gives me great pleasure to once again announce our Athens GA / 40 Watt / Nuci's Space HOMECOMING WEEKEND EVENT.

This year, in the hope of raising more money than ever for Nuci's Space and the great work that they do, we have restructured it so that they take a share of all three nights.

The Fabulous 40 Watt Club provided our band with a home to come home to years ago when we were a struggling band, hooking us up with a much bigger venue than we were playing elsewhere at the time, with excellent production and their world famous hospitality.

Now, we tend to play in bigger rooms across America and our 40 Watt shows provide our fans with a chance to see us play extended shows up close and personal.

It truly is a special event to us all and something we look forward to all year long.

As 2012 looms, we are planning on touring less next year so our Homecoming should be more special than ever.

As for support, this should be an extra special HOMECOMING WEEKEND on that level also.

Thursday Night, January 12th, we will kick things off in style with Special Guest FUTUREBIRDS.

They played a bunch of shows with us earlier in the year and have recently been out supporting Widespread Panic and Sold Out their show at The Georgia Theatre.

On Friday Night, January 13th, we will be celebrating the luckiest of all nights with our friends ALABAMA SHAKES.

If you don't believe me when I say they're one of the best new bands in the world, check out their video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0HxNtWEIKhQ and prepare to be amazed. This will be their Athens GA Premiere and in another year, they will be selling out everywhere. John Pareles from New York Times absolutely raved about their show during CMJ http://artsbeat.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/ ... me-to-life

Finally, on Saturday Night, we will bring things home with some special friends.

FREE MOUNTAIN is made up of members (past and present) of several of Athens best bands of all times.

(Hayride, Supagroup, Dictatortots and Slackdaddy to name a few) a great new band with great songs and a fantastic show. Kicking the night off for the third year in a row, we will have THE CAMP AMPED BAND, comprised of some of the finest young talent in our fair town.

We will also have our annual auction at Nuci's Space and other such events to announce later (so stay tuned).

Tickets go on sale November 3, at 12pm EST.

All three nights sell out every year and I suspect this year they will go quicker than ever so don't put it off.

I have some major conflicts and decisions for this one. Bachelorhood and living in Athens for the last four homecoming shows was a huge bonus. It's going to be tough managing holiday travels to Charlotte and a February cruise on less income. Fortunately Christmas and birthday fall just before the rock shows. We'll see what happens.

Also. I noticed that there weren't any homecoming show specials at the Dazed Inn. I'd just like to take this time to say that the Dazed Inn is "special" all by itself and has a spacious sun-heated pool, all you can eat microwaveable Jimmie Dean breakfast sammiches and a daunting wall to scale going to and from the rock show.

Special Is right. Those Jimmy Dean sammies are a life saver come Sunday morning! And fuck that hill & that wall. I learned that lesson in 09.

Definitely agree. We only live once. I'm slipping my way in the Futurebirds bus/van after their Chicago show in December to cut costs.

Definitely buying tickets. I'll figure out the if/how of getting there later. The timing is good vis a vis holiday presents; now all i have to do is find someone who wants to give me one.

Finally! How long does it normally take for the 3-day passes to sell out? Are we talking minutes, hours, days?

Strongly considering this (would be my first time), though not sure if I would stay for all three nights. If I only do two nights, any opinions as to whether I should do the first two or the last two?

we had this kid in law school who'd use it every other phrase, to this day i still can't figure out what it exactly means or how to use it...i refuse to learn

Clams, I'd do nights 2 and 3 because that last night thing seems kind of cool, people you'd never otherwise see..(OBL will have a diff opinion)

Fancy is as fancy does.

Oh, and since this is the Athens thread, I'm also the guy who worked a reference to the Musee D'Orsay into a review of one of the Athens shows last year.

Mine and Beth's 40 Watt streak will be broken this year since she is due on the 11th. We're both very envious. Toast a PBR tallboy or ten for us. This as always will be great times!!!! Hoping for no ice storms for y'all this year!
