I dipped into my pathetic savings account and sacrificed a future down payment on a horse, car, or house, for my tickets. So I guess I'm in... As long as there's a 24-hr Meijer or Wal Mart somewhere nearby, I'm good on lodging. Now I'll just have to figure out my transportation between now and then (and NO, unfortunately horseback is not an option :( ).

I take it the pre-sale tix are gone? There is no link on the DBT page for tix.

Yup, from Norway. Figured out how to purchase. The deal is done.

Now I just have to find the reasonably priced airline tickets...

Ok, just remember I get to buy that third drink!

Funny story, several years ago my cousin went on a road trip with his cousin from Oslo. He was about to have his first child and wanted to go on an old fashioned American road trip with his friends and my cousin before settling down to family life. At the top of his list was a visit to the 40 Watt in Athens, actually beating me to that honor by several years. They just went and saw a random band on a weekday as I recall, but the experience was well worth it for all of them. You get to do them one better and see DBT. Looking forward to meeting you.

Excellent! I'm really looking forward to this!! Plane tickets secured as well. A tad more expensive than in my budget. I guess that will have to be covered by the contingency :D

I am flying in on wednesday (11th). There was an option for thursday as well but arriving until approx 7 pm in Atlanta. With the show starting at 8 pm I guess that I could have made it in time to see the main act. However coming via Newark in January, with possibilities for snow storms and what have you, I didn't take the chance. Instead arriving one day in advance I will have an extra day in Athens to look around and shake off the jet lag.

let me know what time you are supposed to be getting in and perhaps we can make the trip from ATL to Athens together. I haven't booked my flight yet.

oh, and, uh, hi.

Coming in from the Uk Wednesday night, Athens about 2100 I should think curtesy of Delta Airlines flight to Atlanta. We will be known I guess being British. I will be surprised if we are the only ones though. The only time I have seen another gig in the States was Springsteen & never been to Georgia, but have been to Mississippi, Louisiana & Tennessee, so hopefully this will be special, even though it is January. I thought we were mad coming frpm the UK, but Oslo, now that is impressive.

Ok, me and 2 buddies are coming in from Oklahoma and Texas. Our first Athens trip...we've talked about it for years...finally pulling the trigger.

I am fired up. If there is anything these newbies need to know, feel free to throw it out there!

Look at the primer jonicont posted. Good stuff there and there will surely be more info added. Glad you're making the trip!

I'm out this year, kiddies. I expect plenty of reporting and photography for those of us living vicariously through the rest of all y'all.

And yes, BTB, I used "vicariously" just for you. :)

I'm going to fly in on Tuesday to give me a whole day to get over the jet lag.

I've booked a double room at the Courtyard and I'm coming on my own so if anyone is interested in sharing a room/cost then PM me.
