DC 9:30 Club July 23rd

Post by Flying Rabbit »

Glad to see them coming back to the 9:30 Club. Was this show just announced today? Saw that they posted on FB/Twitter this morning and immediately got tix. Gonna be a great show, but aren't they all? Cool thing is seeing Patterson back at the 9:30, since last time he was down with sickness for the 2-night stand. Too bad this won't get pushed into a 2-nighter.

Who else is coming?

They announced it in an email blast last night. I also picked up a ticket immediately.

I figure between the fact that this is their only headlining show in a stretch of opening dates for Tom Petty, and that it's one night instead of the usual 2 in DC, and that Patterson missed out last time...this should be one epic night of DBT. What are the chances they don't bring an opening act with them?

Ah, haven't checked my email in like 24 hours, so that explains it.

I kinda don't want an opener. 2 sets of DBT would be killer.

Count me in on this one, too. It's closer than driving to P-burgh for Petty and it's all DBT. Sold.

Hey, if the band can drive all the way from Detroit, taking the train from NYC is no biggie.

That tour schedule (Detroit-DC-Pittsburgh in 3 consecutive nights) is brutal. Gotta love this band.

it's not the trip...it's

70$ each way (140) for train
+ticket (35)
+room split w/Black Canary (probably around 70/80)
+alcohol/food (50)

so yeah, the band has a long trip, but they have more money and time off their day jobs...um...

so for one DBT show $300/the chance they'll play Love Like This.....maybe 20%?

meeting the famous Rev Toddd may be priceless....HMMMMMMM lol

should i do it...i'll get back.

Suggestion folks, Number 1. Why don't some of us folks who live close to one another talk about car pooling. and Number Two. If a bunch of us are going, (which it looks like there are) why don't we try to get a group rate at a hotel or campground. Or split rooms with folks. I'm down for whatever, but I'd really like to get a carpool going. (I'm in the Boston area.) And or splitting a hotel. If anyone is interested I can fit 2 more plus bags in my Jeep. Let me know!

Speaking for Uncle Rickey, and Bill in CT, it depends on if we can get time off of work or not, but we're definitely considering this. Stay tuned...

I haven't been to the 9:30 Club since 1985 when my band opened for The Fleshtones. Great club. Lamont Prince was involved in the club back then and remains one of the best people I've ever met in the music biz.

The scene died for me in 1986. At least the east coast psychedelic scene. I still write songs and my band still plays out. But let's not kid ourselves. It's been 25 years since this old man was "the next big thing."

That was the old 9:30 Club. That was a pisshole, and I say that lovingly. The new one opened around the mid-90s.

I am really hoping to make this one and see all you stalwart east coast 9B.....um.....3DD-ers there! And I agree, I think it will be a special one, given that it follows last year's "Cooley Show"/Patterson sick stand.

Thought I read somewhere recently where PH said their (his) return to the 9:30 Club was guaranteed to be a barn-burner. Melikes the sound of that.

Whoops, missed this date entirely  Would like to go, of course, but way too soon for me to know. If i go, i'll probably fly - i gave up driving that route after 1 particularly nightmarish return trip.

I wanted to do this show, can't make it work as I have to be in the office for sure that day. I'll make it out there one of these years.
