1. The club just announced this show, and will start selling tickets at 10 am today. Anyone who wants to go but hasn't bought tickets yet should probably do so, because they're about to start selling faster.
The shooting wasn't related to the club or anything, but still. Nobody tell my wife about this, mmkay?
Well then we will have to make sure no one is wondering about trashed by their lonesome after the show. We 3DDers will take care of our own!!!!
You have to be careful anywhere you go in DC. I have lived here for 14 years and this stuff happens in all neighborhoods no matter if it's a crappy neighborhood or a very well to do neighborhood. I live in Adams Morgan, it's probably the most trendy, popular neighborhood in DC right now, shootings and other violence happen here too. It's mostly drug and or gang related.

It's no wonder everybody's scared of downtown Washington. It's just a little too close to home.
I live in this neighborhood now, y'all, and have been walking around the general area for the last 5 years or so. Not dead yet. The neighborhood has changed rapidly just in the time I have been here, and I feel completely safe most of the time.
I tell my folks and my friends and myself that it is a city; the urban environment cannot eliminate these acts of violence entirely no matter what city or neighborhood. But it always makes me deeply sad. Anyway, the 930 club environs is not a neighborhood to be particularly afraid of. And I have stumbled down that block alone in the middle of the night after a boozy show many times. I don't recommend stumbling around by yourself, of course, but I've never been harassed or mugged, much less shot. It's cool, k?
No one should be worried one iota. Just be smart. There's a parking lot right next door. Howard is right behind the club, and there is a Five Guys, Starbucks, etc, so its not terrible. I usually go to 5-10 shows there yearly, and I've never had problems. It used to be dicey once upon a time, but not anymore. That was the first shooting I've heard about around there, to be honest.

The midnight sun is a natural phenomenon occurring in summer months at latitudes north and nearby to the south of the Arctic Circle, and south and nearby to the north of the Antarctic Circle where the sun remains visible at the local midnight. Given fair weather, the sun is visible for a continuous 24 hours, mostly north of the Arctic Circle and south of the Antarctic Circle. The number of days per year with potential midnight sun increases the farther poleward one goes.

OK, maybe not "broad" daylight, but at 7:40 pm there's plenty of light out this time of year. The moral of the story, as I see it, is to show up after dark.
Seriously, I've been to several shows at the 9:30 and never had any problems--I just thought the story was newsworthy. I came across it on the 9:30's own message board when looking for discussion about the DBT show, of which there hasn't been any yet.
