THE most KICK-ASS version of PPOTM ever?

Post by Lurleen McQueen »

I work for the American Cancer Society and Monday night I was honored to have dinner with the National Director of Prostate and Colorectal Cancers for ACS. We were talking about the lack of access to health care and how that in turn affects both preventive screening as well as effective treatment. MY boss brought up the Drive-By Truckers and PPOTM. I shared the gist of the song with the gentleman and he asked me to forward him the lyrics and a video. So...I'm looking for the most kick-ass version of PPOTM that we have in our possession. Who has it? Marina? Jonicont?

Here's a link to the ACL performance. PPOTM starts at about the 18:15 mark.

Or you could just send him the dvd
(Probably not the most kick ass version, but obviously the audio and video are top notch.)

Lurleen...
You could send him the Austin City Limits DVD,
i thought the version on that performance was pretty strong...

One of my favorite tunes of all time.
take a deep breath and throw yourself into it with everything you got...it's great to be alive!

I vote for the ACL version. Send him the entire dvd. "The Living Bubba" is also on that dvd and, take it from, a cancer patient, that song makes you want to live.
I have nowhere else to go. There is no demand in the priesthood for elderly drug addicts

Pretty sure they didn't play the Roo in '06. I think you mean 2005 and if so I would probably agree with you if only I could remember it.
We call him Scooby Do, but Scooby doesn’t do. Scooby, is not involved

2005 was awesome.
As was Athens 2010..or so I hear on the recording...it's sloppy and raw...

Damn I meant 2008. How do you people remember this shit :D Found out right after DBT finished that Tim Rusert died. Went back and watched TV and didnt go back out until Chris Rock introduced Metallica and eventually the late night MMJ madness in the rain where I wound up like 14 hours or so in the same sport from where the afternoon started with DBT.

I'd go studio for the uninitiated. Anything live, and the imperfections will lose them, unless it's live album quality. Which, I think leaves you with only ACL and maybe 40 Watt?
