Hi all! Always was aware of DBT but never paid much attention to them until a friend (3DD user Zip Up To Michigan) told me to listen to It's Great to be Alive a few years back and I fell in love with the band. Saw my first rock show Feb of last year at the Majestic in Detroit, and caught 6 shows since (2 Kalamazoo, 2 Thalia Chicago, 2 Nashville) and looking forward to more! I've been the reading forum here for a year + and figured I'd finally register.

The Nashville shows earlier this month? I was in attendance. :)

We came in while driving home from Houston just after New Years Day, 2017, when saw in our local paper’s “Best of 2016” lists that “American Band” was on everyone’s list. We’d seen the guys once several years earlier under less than optimal conditions and weren’t knocked out but figured it was worth a listen if all the reviewers agreed it was one of the top albums of the year.

YIKES!!!

We saw our first show at the Granada Theater in Dallas in that year and extended our New Mexico summer vacation to catch both shows at the Chautauqua Theater in Boulder when Cooley played only acoustic both nights.

Since then we’ve seen them headlining in Fayetteville, AR, Oxford, MS, Little Rock, again at the Granada Theater, and opening for Tedeschi Trucks south of Memphis.

We’re thrilled to have tix for Wednesday through Friday for our first Homecoming weekend in 2019. We’d sure love to hear from anyone who has a bead on tix to the Saturday night show.

Last year was my first Homecoming and you won't find a warmer, more congenial group of people in your life. It's like freshman orientation except better because you're not 18 anymore and now the hangover lasts the whole weekend. Nothing a little hair of the dog won't cure. Athens is a warm and friendly town with killer food and outstanding bars. And then you have shows every night that you're in town. It's the best goddamn thing you'll ever see.

Hi! Discovered the band after hearing Lookout Mountain playing at a local bar around this time last year, got hooked while listening to the It's Great to Be Alive! album several times through on a cross country road trip, and went to my first rock show on night 2 in Nashville in November. Going to HC this year! Only got tix for Wednesday and Thursday, but hoping that'll be enough to meet some of ya and see what all the talk is about.

Welcome! Look forward to seeing you in Athens. I'm sure you know this already but Wednesday will be a bit of a different experience as it's actually headlined by Adam's House Cat Patterson and Cooley's band from the eighties and early nineties. Jay Gonzales is opening with his AM Gold set which promises to be a HeAthen sing along. Thursday will be DBt proper and you face will be melted!

Hi there! Figured it was time to join since I’ll be heading down to homecoming for the first time ever next week. :)

I’m Sari and I’m from Hamilton, ON, Canada. Saw the truckers here in Hamlton for the first time in 2006,I think the only time they ever played here. Fell more in love on the rock and roll means well tour in 08 (I’m also a huge fan of the hold steady) and have seen DBT every time they’ve been in Toronto since (and luckily they usually do two night runs) plus have travelled to see them a couple times (including NYC for NYE 2010). Hubby and I also did a road trip for our honeymoon and made sure to drive on hwy 72, stopped in Pulaski TN, stopped at muscle shoals, etc but I’ve never been to Athens before and I’m pretty excited!

Welcome. I don't think I"m going very far out on a limb when I say I think you'll fit in well. :) Plus we've already been at the same rock shows at least 3x (2 nites at one of the Toronto stands and NYE in NYC). See you in Athens!

Hey, my name is Jeremy King and I am happy to now be a part of the 3DD community! I discovered the Drive-By Truckers about 5 years ago (my senior year of high school) through a history teacher and they soon became my favorite band. I've got to meet most of the members and even built a lap steel for John Neff, who is my favorite guitar player. I was inspired to try guitar building after getting Scott Baxendale to rebuild a guitar for me.

I have released a couple of music projects (heavily influenced by the truckers) and I would love to get together and play music with anyone on here that would like to jam sometime. I mainly work in marketing for a small cooking oil company called Oliver Artisan Oils (which Shonna Tucker is a fan of) but I run a recording studio part time in middle Georgia too. So if any of y'all ever need to record your music let me know and I'll give you the 3DD friend pricing!

I'm constantly blown away by how kind and accepting the DBT community is. The members, fans, etc. And I'm proud to be a member in the community now. I look forward to bonding with you all over the great music and memories surrounding this band.

Sadly I can't make it this year. I was waiting on my buddy to let me know if he could go and by the time he responded the show we wanted to see had sold out. I've never been to a Homecoming and would love to go.

Do the folks from this website usually meet up and hang out before the shows?

Absolutely. Some of us have known each other a long time now but it's always fun to meet new folks who pretty much instantly become new members of the family. Usually people will talk about a pre-game meetup in the particular show threads.

Always go to the show. One interpretation: Buy the tickets first, ask questions later.

HC is one big hangout. If u mean the regular tour shows, the answer is generally yes but there are more members in some locations than others. Information is usually in the individual threads for each show or tour segment. And if Uncle Rickey & Cooleygirl decide to pop in for the weekend, a meetup is pretty much guaranteed.

Welcome.

Hey, My wife and I have been listening to and seeing DBT every chance we get since around 2000. Living in Minnesota we don't get as many chances and we would like. We finally got to go to this year's Homecoming (Thursday and Friday) and were blown away. It was a totally different atmosphere than other shows we've been to. So much fun. At the Thursday show, we met a couple who had unknowingly bought each other copies of "The Company We Keep" book and offered to give us one of them. I think Homecoming might have to turn into an annual event for us now.
