Re: Your Woman is a Living Thing
I heard Your Woman is a Living Thing at the Stubbs show a couple weeks back. Funny stuff! I didn't get to make it to a record store to get a copy. Does anyone have an .mp3 version of what came on the single that they would like to share with me?
Re: Your Woman is a Living Thing
Long time DBT fan. First saw them in 1999 or 2000 in Atlanta at "On the Bricks". Been to numerous DBT and Isbell shows since. At Morgantown, WV show last Thursday I heard "Your Woman is a Living Thing" for the first time. It was DBT's intro song. In my frantic search for this song, I found out the song is a vinyl only release, but I also found this forum. I see some kind soul(s) has been generously scratching peoples itch for this rare track. Can I plead for the same favor? If the good samaritan is feeling especially generous, any other rare DBT tunes would be greatly appreciated. I recently found and downloaded a live show of Cooley solo & unplugged. I can offer that up as a trade????? My e-mail address is: dolfanasa@yahoo.com
Thanks in advance.....

I would LOVE a digital copy of this as well. The few times I've
heard it always reminds me of country honk. Dmezger@gmail.com.

Having the seven inch is worth it for the cover alone.

I know it isn't exactly Marry Me, but I didn't really think It was supposed to be.

It's a novelty song that's slightly amusing to hear at the live show, but nothing I'd ever listen to voluntarily (which is probably the only time I'll EVER say that about a Cooley song)

Zip, I'm not going to argue the merits of the song. It's fun and I don't think anyone would say it's more than that but do you ever consider how your comments come off to others? Not saying you shouldn't have an opinion, but how you present them is key. Think about it.
We call him Scooby Do, but Scooby doesn’t do. Scooby, is not involved

I listen to it fairly often. I like the groove and it makes me smile.

I throw it on the old Thorens every now and then. Usually after I'm several beers deep and getting ready to roll another number.

I think everyone is leaving out the most obvious benefit to owning this record and that is because it also includes the B side "Just Maybe" which is an excellent play when attempting to proposition your loyally devoted better half...I swear it works... at least the first time anyway.
"Ain't no sense in her com'in in here today. She can just go home and love on her man...she'll do the world more good that way..."

Re: Your Woman is a Living Thing
You know its also funny when i first got the record and put it on, I forgot to change the speed and so the it was all in slow'mo distortion and i was like, "What the fuck is this...." The I realized what I had done and corrected it and i was still like..."What the fuck is this..." But then it cracked me up and now i like it...It is meant to have fun with.

Re: Your Woman is a Living Thing
it's a novelty song, nothing more... i don't think i've ever listened to it all the way through and doubt i ever will.
i listened to "just maybe" once, and it was weird. felt too personal to be listening to or something.

Re: Your Woman is a Living Thing
Y'ALL:
Hope everyone out there is doing fine. We've enjoyed our time at home, although no one could actually accuse of of being "Off". Actually been really busy preparing for our Halloween Weekend Shows, getting the next record all set up, working out logistics for The Big UK/Europe To-Do and setting up our NEW YEARS EVE BIG TO-DO FINALE which we will have more info on for you very soon and TONS MORE.
First off, for all of our FACEBOOK Friends, we just launched a FREE DOWNLOAD of "Your Woman is a Living Thing" (our Record Store Day Single from April) and the track that you have heard prior to our set if you have been to a Rock Show in the past year.
This Weekend is our Big To-Do Halloween Weekend Extravaganza with shows in Boone NC, 2 Nights in Richmond VA (including our Big Halloween Ball on Saturday) and Halloween Night at The Fillmore in Charlotte NC. Our good friend Bobby Bare Jr will be joining us for the entire run. In honor of the big Halloween weekend we wanted to send out a special World Premiere Live Video of "USED TO BE A COP" filmed by Jason Thrasher at our Atlanta GA show a few weeks back. The song is from our forthcoming new album and we're really excited about it!
Record Store Day was such a success back in April that everyone has decided to do it again on Black Friday (the day after Thanksgiving). Our love of Vinyl and Independent Record Stores is legendary and for the occasion we are releasing A SPECIAL 10" 45 of two Brand New songs: "THE THANKSGIVING FILTER" and "USED TO BE A COP". It features a special sleeve designed by Wes Freed, a Free MP3 Download of both songs. We are doing a limited pressing of only 2500 copies so it is sure to become a collectors item (plus it gives you a special sneak peak of a little of what's in store for 2011).
In the meantime, we can't wait to take The Big To-Do to the UK and Europe. It's been two and a half years since we've toured over there and this time we're hitting a bunch of countries we've never played before. Ticket sales have been great (We just Sold Out Birmingham and all of the UK shows are following close behind) so get your ticket before it's too late.
Finally, we will be kicking off 2011 with the release of our new album.GO-GO BOOTS will be coming out from our good friends at ATO Records on February 15, 2011. (it will be released in Europe from our friends at PIAS Records on Valentines Day, Feb 14). Look Out for The Go-Go Boots Episodes, (a series of short films about the album produced and directed by Jason Thrasher and Myself). There will be a Pilot Episode Coming in November with the others following around the first of the year. We are really proud of these and can't wait for you to see them.
There's actually a lot more to tell, but it's going to have to wait till next time because I have a lot of packing to do.
SEE YOU AT THE ROCK SHOW!

I'm new here. Huge DBT fan, seen them in the UK on every tour since SRO. I've been trying to track down "Your Woman is A Living Thing"/"Just Maybe" for some time. If anyone can help me out with MP3's it would be really appreciated.

Well, I wasn't going to join in this chorus of people asking for copies, BUT, since I'm a slave to appearances, if anybody would like to direct me to a copy of a digitized "Your Woman," it'd be most appreciated.

No worries on that. I was on here back when the 'split' happened, albeit browsing. Mega fan, just wanting to close the circle on what I don't have.
Bout every album, except the live 'Alabama' album. Still awaiting the re-release.....
Re: Your Woman is a Living Thing
hi all. saw them in seattle couple nights ago, quite possibly best i've seen yet. putting people on the moon, uncle frank, panties in your purse! and cooley called out a meathead for causing trouble right in the middle of a song! "that guy! right there!" a very intense roadie jumped into the audience and he and security escorted a few guys off. classic. the meatheads kept it in check the rest of the night. i think their encore was 7 songs. played well over 2 hours. heartless bastards were great too.
anyhow, i'd love a mp3 copy of these tunes myself. any help would be much appreciated.
thanks much, rock on.

Might as well say the same.
Getting harder and harder to stay on top of these things.
