Montclair NJ show June 11

Post by 'Scratch »

I have an extra ticket for the Truckers show in Montclair, NJ on June 11. Who wants to drive me so I can drink a gallon of old No. 7 and obnoxiously shout lyrics at the top of my lungs?

Some traditions must be upheld.

I'll let you know Penny, but I'm still angling for a designated driver. It's just not a Truckers show unless I've poured sour mash down my shirt.

I hope to see you there! And really, I'm not an axe murderer or anything like that. Not any more.

Alright! Can't wait to see you all there. And even if I can't douse myself in Jack it will be a great show with Escovedo opening. I'm just glad I'll get to see them before they take their upcoming break.

I'm this ugly dude, in case you want to avoid me.

Speaking of rides... anyone planning on driving back to the city after the show? I'll probably be taking the bus in but the last bus out leaves at midnight and I would prefer not to miss any rock show. Can anyone help me out?

Psyched for the show but sure wish it was easier to access from Manhattan. Would welcome any info about public transportation (last bus at midnight? does it stop anyway near the theater?). What's the parking situation? Anybody driving from Manhattan have space for two (drinks are on us)? Maybe we should all get together and hire some gypsy van.

Enough about the hassle, and more about the pleasure: Never seen the Truckers in Jersey!

There is a parking garage around the block from the theatre, i parked there for a Todd Snider show there and I think it was free, but it was a weekend.

I heard PATH's an option. If I find out anything I'll post it.

The closest PATH is going to get you is Newark.

I have friends who live in Montclair. They have mentioned a bus that goes between NYC and Montclair. I will ask them for info and report back.

I have a gig that night, so I will have to miss the show. I'll catch them in Wilkes Barre and at the Pete Seeger show.

Yeah, but having a gig of your own is an honorable reason to miss a DBT show in your home state. Patterson would probably be dead set against anyone cancelling their own show to attend one of his. That would go against the entire DBT/Let There Be Rock ethos.

The legacy of the old anthracite lines that hauled coal from Pennsylvania to New York is the great commuter rail system we have in New Jersey. Unfortunately, there are no lines that go through that section of Essex county, so the only option from NYC is a bus from The Port Authority Terminal in NYC. Another option might be a train to East Orange and a cab ride but that is pricey and no guarantee of service.

There is a line that goes through Montclair, just not on the weekends.

Dude, I posted the link already for NJTransit. There is no light rail. There is NO train service to Montclair on weekends.

Decamp bus line #33, from Port Authority to Montclair (lets off just a couple of blocks from the venue):

http://www.decamp.com/schedules_routes.asp

But look up the returning schedule - no buses after midnight.

Have no fear, bubba's here, riding to the rescue, so to speak. I can take jack flash & 2 - 3 others back to the city after the show (i'll be heading to the bronx, but won't have come from there, so this is a one way offer only). JF gets dibs based on prior history but the other spots are up for grabs.

Mr. Flash, if this keeps up i'm gonna be looking to you for half my car payments.

BTW, NJM, just so you show up on the right night, this show IS on a weekend ;)

Already took the day off from work BTB. I'm driving since mass transit in NJ is really not very convienient to most areas of the state except the urban centers. Weird scheds, odd station locales, pretty much the opposite of NYC. But that's what NJ is all about, inconvienience and irritation.
