What did this asshole accomplish by stealing their backdrop???
This band goes out and bust their asses to feed their families and entertain us, and this is the thanks they get. A slap in the face!!!! They are very nice want to connect with their fans. To find out that this was a guy who was invited backstage makes it even worse.
Haven't felt this angry since the assholes that crashed the gates at Deer Creek at my last Grateful Dead show in 1995.

I posted in the WTF thread b4 i saw this one and said almost word for word what mhc did. All of us here not only support the band but feel a real sense of community and relationship w/ the band, which seems to be returned to an unusually large degree. And then one shmuck comes along and seriously disrupts the karma and community, to say nothing of stabbing the band in the back. Because of that relationship and because we all know this band is not exactly "U2, Inc." i think we all feel this quite personally. Let's hope that payback is indeed a bitch.

One of the things that you hear most frequently from those of us that are huge fans of this band is that one of the reasons is that they are good people. So you call yourself a fan but you steal from good people who are working their ass off to show you a good time??? Fuck you. This community, with the band at the center of it, is generally a good bunch and an extended family. Like any family if you wrong one of it's members you wrong everyone in it. what pisses me off a lot is that I bet it was a kid that just got into the band on the last record or two. he obviously never saw them slug it out in clubs that smell of piss and vomit when they were broke.

This is terrible, not just that the person is stealing from the band but they are also ruining the experience for those people who haven't caught shows on this tour yet. Now, when the band comes through their town they miss seeing the backdrop. A big part of the experience is seeing the artwork up close and personal.

Look, if anyone absolutely has to have DBT artwork all they have to do is go to Wes Freed's website. There are all kinds of great posters and paintings for sale. But stealing from the band? Absolute lowlife crap.

A person who would sneak backstage, eat the band's food and drink their liquor, then steal from them is not a fan. That person is a sociopath. And being drunk is no excuse.

They had several backdrops for this tour of various sizes. There was the large one with the train and the Cooley bird. There were also several smaller ones which were re-productions of various pictures from The Big To-Do album cover and cd booklet. The thief may have stolen one of the smaller ones. I don't think one person is strong enough to carry the big backdrop on his own. Well, maybe Damon could manage it.

This is just such a weird and hurtful thing. When the Slobberbone guys had their equipment stolen, "at least" it was "just" a robbery on an anonymous basis presumably to be fenced for cash. This, though, was done by somebody masquerading as a fan, who took advantage of the band's hospitality and more than likely wanted it for himself (who's gonna buy it?). Disgusting.
