Amateur Hour - write a Trucker verse

Post by bnzz »

Thought it might be fun to see what everyone comes up with

Here is mine(of course it would have to be a Cooley song)

"She use to be an artist, but now all she ever draws is blood"

here's a couple verses I wrote last year.

She’s gonna be back in a jiffy
that’s a prospect startin’ to look iffy
I can’t blame her if she’s havin’ 2nd thoughts
(about someone who seems like damaged goods)
or maybe she has listened to Miss Priss
sayin’, “Don’t get tangled up with such a mess
‘coz for all that anybody really knows
in the mornin’ all he’ll say is adios”

Miss Angel Baby may be hurtin’ too
and won’t be riskin’ heartbreak anytime soon
it’s not like I’m Clint Eastwood in ‘A Fistful of Dollars’
(a high plains drifter come to save some fine Consuela)
she prolly thinks I’m just another jerk
or a loser or a boozer or a slob or even worse
and if that Princess don’t think much of me
I should leave while I still have my dignity
A thousand clusterfucks will not kill my tiny light

"cuz i'm more an asshole than i am yr friend & i'm losing sight why i bother to pretend"
Just cause I don't run my mouth don't mean I got nothing to say...

First we sat in traffic for 5 hours in Virginia
Then we finally started moving
But then we had a blow out and had to stop again
So we spent our 10 year anniversary eating dinner at a Cracker Barrel
But it didn’t matter none cause at least we were together when the day was done

(This actually happened to us, by the way)!

I'm no song writer but I did have a sad realization the other day that sounds like something straight out of a Cooley song....... "My church clothes are now my court clothes"

it's in the work, cause my english is not so great...

I've been alone for too long now, something must change
Talks of war and politics around me, I said "I just like music & the heat"
But the weather means nothing and I look way too young for my age
I lived here all my life, and my heart is more troubled than the Middle East
"I used to hate the fool in me, but only in the morning. Now I tolerate him all day long"

I like it, Tomer. Are you a musician?

7 minutes after midnight, 7 hours to go
you wanna take a ride? i promise it'll be slow.

7 minutes after midnight, 7 hours to go
what i use to remember, now i just do know
7 minutes after midnight, 7 hours to go
we all have some secrets, something we need to stow.

It's the sinner and it's the saint, and
it's the madonna, and it's the whore next door
When you think of this, do really wanna see more?

7 minutes after midnight
7 minutes after midnight,
7 minutes after midnight,
7 hours to go

7 minutes after midnight, 7 hours to go
just like the fucking weeds, we all need to grow.
7 minutes after midnight, 7 hours to go
welcome to my release, my night time freak show

Everybody tells me that I'm free
except the warden of the jail inside of me
so I'm gonna bake
a file in a carrot cake
and mastermind
my great escape
A thousand clusterfucks will not kill my tiny light

No, not at all. But I'm a great listener! :) (my regular answer to this question).

The first look through a peephole
A kiss inside the door
Was more than we'd imagined,
ev'rything we'd waited for

And so began a journey
through our hearts and minds
Five-thirty in the morning,
ev'ry second perfect time

Into the Carolinas
where sex and salsa reigned
The Truckers' show was awesome
The former was insane

The Truckers they kept playin'
as through the states we went
A phone call and a headache,
hotel management was bent

The middle of Virginia
we made a certain stop
Meaningful in nature
You guys wanna smoke some pot?

On the interstate of life
with a warm face in the cold
Stuck in West Virginia
where strange figurines are sold

We like to laugh at wrong turns
like in Indy after Sid
Arriving a new person
they don't recognize the kid

Kitchen tables and a couch
Digestive debauchery
Insulting with a smile,
fitting in with family

We left the windy city
I was running out of clothes
An unsuccessful pursuit
We both paid through the nose

Next day we're in Arkansas
to get stepdogs one and two
Fancy lunch like Ecuador,
some short-lived Memphis blues

The hotel clerk in Knoxville
a dyslexic Steelers fan
A hard man in America
will do all that he can

License plates are easy
unless they're hard to see
Look over there, what is that?
Well now who's up by three?

French vanilla creamer
and men twirling 'round the ice
A douchebag on a jet ski
just got tasered, ain't that nice?

That was then and this is now
Ev'ry single day's been great
When something is this right,
twenty years was worth the wait

The first look through a peephole
A kiss inside the door

Johnny worked the night shift five days a week
If you ever caught his eye, he couldn't speak
Johnny lived his lifetime in Bennington
From Nineteen Sixty Six to Ninety One

Johnny loved his mama, that mama's boy
He also loved his gun, his fav'rite toy
Johnny liked to play with it at the table
He wasn't very smart, or very stable

No one loved Johnny
Nobody cared
Women ignored him
Children just stared
Johnny was a freak
A mistake made by God
His mama never spoiled him
She never spared the rod
No one loved Johnny
Nobody cared
Women ignored him
Children just stared
Johnny's mind was weak
And his temper was slow
But what built up inside
would eventually blow

Along highways and byways in chevrolets
Mama made her living in the worst ways
Well mama knew cigars, and seedy bars
And Johnny came to be in a strange car

All the way from Tahoe, mama she came
But not to see Johnny; he was her shame
Johnny it so happened traveled downtown
He was looking for love; guess what he found?

Johnny said to mama: What have you done?
You'd rather walk the streets than see your son?
Mama said to Johnny: Hello, my dear
Your mama is a whore; don't shed a tear

I won't cry, said Johnny, but please come home
I'm workin', said mama, you're on your own
I'll pay for you, mama, pay for your time
Please mama I'm going out of my mind

Mama she walked away, into the night
Into another man's car and out of sight
Johnny stared straight ahead, knew he had lied
And there behind the wheel started to cry

East toward Brattleboro Johnny he raced
Trying to clear his head, tears down his face
Johnny returned to work, kept his head down
But all he could think was: Mama's in town

No one loved Johnny
Nobody cared
Women ignored him
Children just stared
Johnny was a freak
A mistake made by God
His mama never spoiled him
She never spared the rod
No one loved Johnny
Nobody cared
Women ignored him
Children just stared
Johnny's mind was weak
And his temper was slow
But what built up inside
would eventually blow

Eleven days later, knock on the door
Johnny's in the kitchen, dead on the floor
Day-old breakfast in sight, blood in plain view
Pollice called it a case of oatmeal blues

Johnny loved his mama, that mama's boy
He also loved his gun, his fav'rite toy
Johnny fin'lly lost it ... at the table
Mama Kramer didn't care; she wasn't able
