Sweet! I won't make it, but I was there for the start of a great THS Midwest run almost exactly two years ago from that date (I believe it was 4/5...went directly from a Jason show w/JTE opening to the airport). You will have a great time.

Should be turning my lazy sunday into something with a little more kick. Heading over from columbus, oh early sunday...because why not?
my shits fucked up
Re: Bloomington, IN 4/10/11
Considering it..... not crazy about seeing college town rock shows... the crowds are usually a bit off and it seems to throw off the entire show. Both times I've seen them in Columbus, it was a weird vibe.
After last night's show, though, I'm strongly considering driving out to Bloomington....

Re: Bloomington, IN 4/10/11
Fantastic show. I keep saying the hotter the venue is, or the temperature is, the more likely it is you'll get a great show. It was hotter than hell in there and we got a great show.
Venue was very oddly shaped. All kinds of funky angles, levels, steps, benches, and arches. I heard part of it used to be horse stables which explained the arches, and the building itself has some sort of historical significance so they can't really make any changes to it so they're stuck with the venue as is.
Anyway, we're all packed in there (as Patterson said, like sardines) and it's hot as hell but nobody cared. It was a very drunk crowd, but friendly drunk, thank goodness. Somebody kept buying pitchers of beer around us, yes, pitchers at a rock show for about $9 (Miller Lite), that was new for us. Anyway, point being it was a really loud crowd from the moment DBT hit the stage. Before they sang a note, there was a roar. Patterson looked surprised when they came out and said we haven't even started and this is my favorite night of the tour so far. It was off to a good start, but then something went wrong during Road Cases. Thankfully, Colin, Matt and Damon to the rescue, and all was right with the Rawk. Patterson quickly reassured us that even though he was worried they'd only been out for a few minutes and it was a little soon to be blowing stuff up, he said if something did blow up or catch fire not to worry, they'd just sing acapella and rock out that way. Luckily, all worked out the rest of the night, until something happened with EZB's drum, but (I forget which song this was in) but I saw Damon replace a drum mid song) and the band didn't miss a note. It happened so fast and DBT is so professional and good you'd probably have to be a dork like me to even have noticed it happened.
Anyway, the band was clearly feeding off the good vibe of the crowd and having fun. We got some nice gems like My Sweet Annette and though this is new, Patterson said they don't play it much but felt like pulling out Fireplace Poker. I about fell over when they did Sounds Better in the Song again! Thank goodness I was leaning on the stage!
What a great way to spend our anniversary! Thanks, DBT!

We were standing outside the venue and Cooley walks by. He notices that UR has cut his hair, and says to him "So what happened, did you lose a bet, or did you get a job? " Then he cracks up and keeps walking along. I couldn't resist sharing that. Classic Cooley.

Big Reed! It was great meeting and hanging with you and your wife. Made a memorable evening even better. And those pitchers! Made the evening... less memorable.
Don't have much to add except it was a wonderful evening and anniversary all around. Thanks to everyone for the kind wishes. And mad props to our traveling companion Prof, for snapping this beaut during "People Who Died":
ROCK!
Re: Bloomington, IN 4/10/11
My third truckers show and it was awesome. My friends and I hung out in the alley after the show and got to chat with the band and get a pic with Cooley! Awesome show, awesome time. And..I was on YouTube today and nearly every song from the show was on there. Search drive by truckers bluebird and there are like 23 songs.
