Dream Collaborations
Since all these "fantasy" discussions have been going on, what's some of your dream collaborations featuring DBT? I'd love to see them do an album with Tom T. Hall (like Pat has mentioned) or maybe even Merle Haggard or George Jones - but the ultimate "teamup" for me would be with Shakey - if he can record/tour with Pearl Jam, he damn sure can with DBT - it'd be as if Crazy Horse, International Harvesters, Stray Gators, and the Bluenotes were the same band.

DBT and Jack White. An album of original blues songs.

Yes. Can't think of a better suggestion than Mavis.
I'd love to also hear a stripped down, TDU style tour with Jeff Austin playing with them. Of course, this would never happen.

Neil Young backed by DBT.

Thought about this as well. Have DBT be The Heartbreakers for an album.

Yeah, combine the Mudcrutch sound with some DBT......seems to fit.

Me playing tambourine with them. I would stand in the back off to the side.

DBT without DBT songs or DBT singing is not a dream anything

Great record, but if no one told you it was DBT backing her up, you'd never know

Re: Dream Collaborations
Zip, you hit that on the head.
I LOVE "Scene Of The Crime", and I like "Potato Hole", but the DBT connection is the only thing that drew me to either record. And at the end of the day, I want to hear Patterson, Cooley, and Shonna singing DBT songs...

Re: Dream Collaborations
In fairness, those collaborations with Bettye and Booker influenced them to write the type of songs we have on Go-Go Boots, so it's ALL good

JJ Cale. Can you imagine what each of them would add to each others signature sound? Wow!

True. I would welcome a collaboration of some type, but it would have to include them doing their own stuff.
I've said for awhile now that they have a session career in their future, doing more stuff like SOTC and PH. I think those albums were just the tip of the iceberg, and they will never want for "work". They can be the modern "Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section". It will just be interesting to see who they end up collaborating with...

I agree to a certain extent, but I could listen to them play instrumentals all day, if it happened to be behind say a Neil Young or Merle I'd have to say it's definitely dream material. Take away the lyrics and they're still a fucking primo band.

A true collaboration would be a lot more interesting than a backing band job.

fair enough, but I think you could say the same of just about any "backing band" collaboration. that would be a very different album without dbt.

DBT w/ Neil Young, with half the record being DBT covers of Neil songs, and the other half Neil covers of DBT songs

How about a truly collaborative effort where they worked together on songs from the ground up?

that would be amazing as well, but I'm not sure if Neil would go for that

This is what I envision with the Jack White thing. Like he joins the band for an album. Johnny moves to full time steel pedal and they do the triple axe thing but on some filthy, heavy blues.
