obscuria, oddities and look-a-likes.

Post by garnersound »

anyone following "oddities" on the discovery channel?
it follows the strange and weird on-goings @ "obscuria", a new york antique shop like no other.
the oddest thing to me about the whole thing is that the co-owner, mike zohn is a dead on matt D ringer.

No doubt!
for a few hours, I'm 19 years old and rock and roll is the only thing that matters.

I've never seen the two together. Doesn't that mean they are the same person?

Love That SHOW !!! Favorite episode so far ??
The guy looking at the straight jacket love the line & vocal inflection's when he asks; " Is, That, A, STRAaaaIGHT JACKET?"
I kinda see the likeness to Matt but it's a strech IMO

Garnersound - I'll give you the fact that the cocked right eyebrow and folded arms make for a little similarity, but I have to reiterate (with all due respect to his beautiful wife) that Matt D. is about ten thousand times more handsome than this dude FWIW.

I think Matt looks a litle bit like the guy from the show American Pickers.

Thanks. I was familiar with his nickname but I can't say that I've ever actually met the man so I have no idea what he looks like.

Come to think of it, though I've never actually met the man, I do believe I saw him at the Truckers show at the Visulite in Charlotte back in '09. Not sure if anyone else from here was there that night but something was going wrong with the lighting, like bright spotlights hitting the band members right during the middle of a song, so I believe it was this fellow that took matters into his own hands (when someone else wasn't able to remedy the situation) by starting to unplug everything in sight back near the soundboard. The problem still persisted even after that so it had to be frustrating for all involved. If that was indeed "The Matador", he was not happy, nor were the Truckers.

i posted this somewhere else before, 9b i think.
my favorite DBT moment ever was in auburn al. skybar, dirty south era.
i was watching the show from the board.
mid set the stage monitors went out.
matt looked @ me and said, "i gotta go down stage, you got this???"
i tried to contain the grin and nonchalantly said "sure man."
and for a couple of songs i had the greatest show on earth @ my fingertips.
wow.
kicker is, i really don't remember what songs.
damn you rock and roll.

In that case it's Matador who took my 45s on to the bus for the band to sign after the Brighton show, so he has my undying respect and gratitude. :)
