I would have given my eye teeth to be at that Ramble show in Levon's barn. And I just read the thread on the New Year's Eve show. Good grief! To anyone that saw that one or both, my hat's off to you.

I realize that I am firmly in the majority here but I liked the first Richmond show (Friday night) slightly better then the next night. That would be my fave of 2010.

Loved ALL the shows I saw in 2010, but these were my faves.

Athens 1/15/10 - First Athens show for me and my wife (see you there 1/14/11)

Ashville 4/17/10 - TBTD songs were tight and got to hear Patterson play Granddaddy solo

DC 7/23/10 - High energy show as if Patterson was making up for being sick for last DC show

Honorable Mentions

Raleigh 2/12/10 - Snow & awesome rock show

Memphis 5/1/10 - Short set but a good one, long road trip for my son's first DBT show

Boone 10/28/10 - Surprisingly small crowd so we got to the rail for another great show, niece got her first chance to see DBT and spread the love to her college friends

Doesn't make you a terrible anything but it's certainly a problem that must be addressed. Good that you are doing so in coming to Athens. I am gonna get you drunker than Frank Sinatra on his birthday. You won't know whether to shit or go sane by the time the Days Inn nutjobs get through with ye. Bring plenty of extra clean underwear.

Three shows only this year. All were good, in some spots, brilliant: Chicago,DeKalb, Madison. Madison probably the pick of the litter.

Oh yeah! DBT for sure made my year a LOT more happier. That soundcheck would have been #1, but as for shows only Brighton & Groningen were more special for me. No doubt that soundcheck was a great moment, just a great fuckin' moment I will never forget...

I only got to go to two - Boston (which I wrote a review on - http://www.melophobe.com/concert-review ... boston-ma/) and the Ramble.

Honestly, the Ramble was just too big a tease for me to really put it up there. Yes, it was a great, unique & unforgettable experience. I'm glad I went. But it literally was over before it started. It's like somebody making an amazing sandwich in front of me but then saying, "you only get this tiny little bite". I'm greedy. i want the whole fucking sandwich!

So I bought tix for 3 nights in Athens to help make up for my 2010 deficiencies.

Trucker Tomer is good people! We had the pleasure of joining him for 5 of his 6 European dates, he was an instant BFF. :D

Otis, so glad you'll make it to Athens, that is great news!

As far as best of 2010 shows go, I can't believe I forgot to mention Asheville, night 2. that was a helluva show.
Jay Gonzalez - the Swiss Army Knife of Musicians - Patterson Hood

The February Greenville show was one of my favorites. I loved The Handlebar. I especially loved Patterson pointing out "The Dickhead" and seeing Damon pounce on that kid and toss him out. Love Like This >>> Too Much Sex (Too Little Jesus) <-for "The Dickhead" was my favorite moment of 2010.

The 1st Night at Variety in ATL was ridiculous and felt like my first show in 2005 at The Southgate House.

Charlotte at Neighborhood Theater??? Great show. Got up front and got in a Webisode! Great folks at this show, like most!

The Augusta show at Sky City was awesome too. Small little venue but just a great time and ridiculous setlist. Probably the highest energy encore all year for me. A few of the highlights for me at that show.

13. Nine Bullets
14. Love Like This

17. Women Without Whiskey
18. The Night G.G. Allin Came To Town

22. Strutter
23. Steve McQueen
24. Zip City
25. Let There Be Rock
26. Rockin' In The Free World

EDIT: The asshat move of 2010 goes to the douche that couldn't control his drunk girlfriend. I think it was night 3 in Athens. She fell over on me and then proceeded to push, then punch me. I laughed it off but man that 40 Watt gets too crowded.

I saw five shows in 2010, my order from first to worst (well not really worst). They were all great.

1. NYE Terminal Five
2. 9:30 Club (DC) in July
3. Saturday night Jefferson Theater in Charlottesville, VA
4. Fillmore in San Francisco in May
5. Electric Factory in Philly in April

Ok, just figuring out that I have been to at least 17 DBT shows this year - I am one of the luckiest women in God's Green Earth. I am so blessed. Wow.

I may have left some out...shitty memory...

2010

Athens is just always alsum.

1. Jan 14 - Athens, GA - 40 Watt - Nuci's Space Benefit show w/ special guest Bloodkin & The Nuci's Space All Stars
2. Jan 15 - Athens, GA - 40 Watt - w/ special guest The Decoys featuring David Hood on bass (Patterson's Dad)
3. Jan 16 - Athens, GA - 40 Watt - - w/ special guest The Decoys featuring David Hood on bass (Patterson's Dad)

New Orleans is my favorite city in the whole wide world, so I ALWAYS love to see them here.
4. Mar 19 - New Orleans LA - Tipitinas - w/ The Soul Rebels Brass Band
5. Mar 20 - New Orleans LA - Tipitinas - w/ Leo Jackson and the Melody Clouds

???Thu Apr 1 - New York NY - Webster Hall w/Langhorne Slim - I don't know if I made it to this one or not. I would have to go back and look at my calendar at work.

This was cool for many reasons, but especially because my Momma came to the record store performance and got to meet the band. She doesn't like "loud music", so it was quite a feat for me to get her here.

6. Fri Apr 16 - Asheville NC - The Orange Peel w/ Langhorne Slim
Sat Apr 17 - Asheville NC - Harvest Records RECORD STORE DAY EVENT - Live performance with members of Drive-By Truckers in the Harvest Records parking lot & signing in store after.
7. Sat Apr 17 - Asheville NC - The Orange Peel w/Langhorne Slim

This one was memorable b/c the festival was cut short by a tornado!
8. Sat May 1 - Memphis, TN - BEALE ST MUSIC FESTIVAL

Amazing shows in California with awesome cali friends that I rarely get to see!!!!!!!!
9. Sat May 8 - San Francisco CA - The Fillmore Auditorium w/ Henry Clay People

10. Sun May 9 - Crystal Bay NV - CRYSTAL BAY CASINO

11. Fri Jun 04 - Tarrytown NY - TARRYTOWN MUSIC HALL w/ Jamie McLean

12. *******************************Sat Jun 5 - Woodstock, NY - Levon Helms Midnight Ramble w/ The Levon Helm Band**************************** Not necessarily the best traditional DBT RAWK show ever, but probably one of the most memorable nights of my entire life.

Hometown show - gotta love that!
13. Sat Jun 26 - Jackson MS - HAL & MALS - OUTDOORS

This was cool to see them open for Petty. Also the night they debuted on Squidbillies.
14. Sun Jul 18 - St. Louis MO - VERIZON WIRELESS AMPHITHEATER w/ Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers

This may be have the most memorable traditional rock show of the year for me and I got the mike on PWD. Sweet.
15. Fri Sep 17 - Memphis, TN - MINGLEWOOD MUSIC HALL w/ The Henry Clay People

16. There was a show in Mobile, AL this week. Can't remember the date and for some strange reason it isn't on the website.

17. Sat Sep 25 - Dallas TX - HOUSE OF BLUES DALLAS w/ The Henry Clay People - had to cut out early for Slobberbone, but still a great show with lots of 3DD friends.

Athens was, of course awesome.

Nashville was great, for a few reasons: furthest we've travelled, met alot of 3DD family, talked to Patterson and Jay in the sushi place before the show. I wanted so badly to take a picture with them, but didn't want to intrude during dinner.

Wilmington, NC: used to live there, Patterson shook my hand when they came out on stage, I got to sing along on People Who Die, it was fucking freezing! Met Colette!
Augusta, GA: caught this show on the way home to southeast Georgia from Wilmywood. We talk to Craig as much as possible, and got to talk with him quite a bit in Augusta.

Every show is great in it's own right.

Nashville: Forgot to mention went to see Will Kimbrough and Tommy Womack the night after DBT, and talked to Rodney Crowell!

Oh yes, the Raleigh show was also great. What a weekend...Billy Bragg Saturday night at Cat's Cradle, DBT Sunday night at Lincoln Street Theatre. Actually, Lincoln Street (ouside.)
