Rollo & Grady is a great music blog site. Good to see Patterson unveiling his favorites over there.

Interesting. I haven't heard quite a bit on his list. Guess I've got some homework to do.

I've never cared much for Hemingway, but I haven't read him in 25-30 years either. I trust Patterson's taste, might be worth a revisit.
We call him Scooby Do, but Scooby doesn’t do. Scooby, is not involved

Hemingway: You gotta read him, and some of it is great, but his reputation far exceeds his actual work product, and too much of that macho bullshit at one time can make one seriously ill.

Patterson's year end music lists tend to be filled with his buddies (not entirely, but the man is good at getting his friends' names out there)
And I knew when I woke up Rock N Roll would be here forever

He's right about the Hold Steady show at the 40 Watt being the best of the year. Patterson got on stage and did his backing vocals for "Navy Sheets." I got to meet him after the show. Cool times all around.

That Sparklehorse and Danger Mouse album would definitely be in my top 10 for albums of the year. The second to last song on the album with Vic Chesnutt singing is just creepy. A lot of great contributors on that album.

Love that album; might be my No. 1 (thought still a bit too early to say for sure). Too bad there was so much drama/tragedy/general record biz bullshit surrounding this album; kind of made the music itself get lost in the shuffle.
