So close to the shows we can sniff them. About 6 inches of snow in Athens and a ton of sleet/freezing rain starting up...called off work today and possibly tomorrow. Should be fine by Thursday though.

My bags are packed and in the car. The coffee pot is ready to brew and I am set to head out for Atlanta at daybreak. Please do whatever you do (prayers, well-wishes, raindances, good thoughts, etc.) for safe travels and clear weather!!!

So I'm landing Thursday afternoon and leaving early, early Sunday morning, and now given the weather, I'm wondering--would I be better off to rent a car or to use the shuttle? I'm not a terrible driver on bad roads, but the shuttle drivers are pros, and I don't see needing a car in Athens. Plus there's that nasty 8:30 AM departure...

Spending 6 days with my inlaws, whom I love, but after that, no snow/ice is going to keep me from getting to the 40 watt. Ive been counting the days since the homestand ended last year.

I'm here in the Dazed. Roads are generally ok. Minor roads in Athens were a bit sketchy. Not clear but could be a lot worse.

Just had a snack (beer and tequila). Streets are fine for driving. Sidewalks are another story. Solid sheets of ice. Apparently they don't buy shovels unless you got shit. If you're used to it, it ain't enough to slow you down.

This is serving as official notice that Lurleen McQueen has made it safely to Athens (as have Dave and Maluca). Snacks with JoniCont and JimmyC were fun. We are hanging out, waiting to go eat dinner. Streets are starting to freeze over (after thawing all day), so things are a bit slick. But, nothing really bad (from a northern perspective). Honestly, the worst part about the weather has been walking around Athens: all the roads (from WV to GA) were fine.
