I’m so sorry to hear this. I think Damon knew how much we cared about him, thankfully.

Dammit. I just saw the post from DBT last night that he had passed. Didn't know he had cancer. What a shitty disease. It's taken my Mom, my sister in law's Dad, and is giving my 2 year old nephew fits right now.

Fuck cancer.

With my son outside the TLA in Philly in 2011
My favorite Damon moment had to be his running leap off the stage of the Brooklyn Bowl to corral a pair of douchebags in the crowd up front. They'd been properly warned by Cooley about 5 minutes prior, but that didn't work so Damon took matters into his own hands.

RIP Damon - so sad to hear this news. I pray he was not in any pain when he left this earth. Cancer is just an awful awful sickness.Nothing but good memories of him, passing Cooley's pics along, seeing him shred Patterson's axe during the encores and making sure no one fucked with us Heathens down front. No one messed with him and he was not afraid to challenge anyone. Just a badass. But when you got to know him, the nicest guy who would give you the shirt off his back. One time after a show I went up the the stage while Damon was packing up the gear to say goodbye and he asked me if I was Howlin' Wolf on the 9B board- he said out of all the bluesmen, he and Patterson loved Howlinwolf's voice the best. I took it as a huge compliment as we both dug the blues. Always, got a kick out of Damon coming on stage between the encore breaks and rallying up the crowd! I'll always remember his big smile and being one of the most down to earth cats I've had the pleasure and honor to know. Rock on brother, rock on. You will be missed.....

This is awful news. I had no idea he was ill. I literally was thinking about him earlier in the week- he was such a fixture/presence at my earliest DBT shows and I was wondering what he was up to. So sad
