Re: Patterson, Jay, and Brad - ATL 10/15

I liked the new material. It seemed more country-ish singer/songwriter stuff, than all out rockers. One song that stood out in particular was a song that he gave a little up-front story for about an old friend of his who always had bad things almost happen to him. Billy something? It's hard for me t...

Just based on the material, I would guess it was a solo record.

Re: Patterson, Jay, and Brad - ATL 10/15

My order may be off, but here's what I remember: The set was a lot of new songs, which I enjoyed. Patterson played 2 different acoustic guitars and one "Mandotar" which I think he only played on Bulldozers and Dirt. He had lyric sheets for two of the new songs, one being the song KH sang o...

Re: Patterson, Jay, and Brad - ATL 10/15

I'm going to see Bob Mould tonight in Decatur. So, between that show and the benefit Saturday night, I hope to see David Barbe on bass at some point this weekend. As great as the lineup is, I'm equally psyched to see who else shows up. <<I think it might be too early for a R.E.M. reunion.>>

Patterson, Jay, and Brad - ATL 10/15

I didn't see a thread about the Criminal Records' benefit show at The Variety Playhouse this Saturday night. Kelly Hogan is also on the bill with a bunch of other great bands/musicians and since CR has such deep roots in the music community here, I would expect some special guests too.

Re: Georgia Theater Aug. 12 & 13

Sure was a great weekend.... We only did Friday night, but I knew the night was off to a great start when we lucked into a free parking spot—and it only got better from there. Our friends over at Square 1 Fish Co. provided a pretty delicious seafood feast for our pre-show activities. Shrimp, beer, ...

Re: Patterson's left hand...

I thoroughly enjoyed the Screwtopians shows with Will Johnson and wonder if it will bring the occasional Murdering Oscar song into the mix. Maybe even have him sing a song or two. I'd love to see a full-blown version of "Just to Know What you've been Dreaming" with the DBTs backing him up.

Re: Georgia Theater Aug. 12 & 13

I only caught Friday night's show, but it was what my soul needed. Me and my wife made the drive over to Athens from Atlanta and parked our asses at the bar at Square 1 Fish Co. over by the classic center and proceeded to feast on several rounds of oysters, clams, mussels, shimps, etc... (etc includ...

Re: DBT and Yo Gabba Gabba Oct 23rd

I noticed the band scheduled to play the Variety Playhouse has cancelled their show scheduled for tomorrow, so I suppose that is an open venue. How hard do I have to wish for an impromptu DBT show to materialize there?

At almost $50 a ticket after fees, I'm not gonna be wrangling many kids. Probably just mine.

Forecastle fest - Louisville 7/9/2010

Edit - I posted this before I listened. It's a rip of the internet stream and sounds like a low quality MP3, not sure what the bit rate of the stream was, but not very high. Fun set with some good banter, but I'd look for someone local to Louisville who taped the real FM, or maybe a good AUD. http:/...

I would love to see them at the Von Braun Civic Center in Huntsville, Alabama with Kelly Hogan and Amy Pike singing backup dressed as Alabama Cheerleaders.

Re: Show Recommendations

IMHO 3-30-2005, and 3-31-2005 are absolute essentials. Lots of Isbell-era material over the two nights and the recordings are some of the best on Archive. http://www.archive.org/details/dbt2005-03-30.flac16 http://www.archive.org/details/dbt2005-03-31.mtx.flac16 and this AUD/SDB matrix of Patterson ...
