Re: Dimmer Twins Sunday August 7 @ Standard Deluxe Waverly,

late great Supper Club I had no idea the Supper Club closed. Not only is it closed but the historic building is no longer there. Sad. "The War Eagle Supper Club was an Auburn tradition from 1937 to 2015. Unfortunately, in the name of progress (or profit), this iconic gateway to Auburn has bee...

Re: BREXIT SCHMEXIT

How would leaving benefit the UK economically, other than not bailing out Greece? Bailing out Greece never enters the equation as the UK isn't part of the Eurozone, i.e. we still use good old pounds rather than Euro's. I can't see any economic benefits at all to leaving. All I can see are downsides...

Re: Patterson Solo Shows---August

Saturn is a cool place, reputedly. Not been yet, but it looks to have a retro sci-fi or space age decor. Ties in with Saturn/Birmingham native Sun Ra. Might be time to get an appointment at my 3rd Ave N. Birmingham office on that date. I hated to miss the DBT shows at the Lyric right down the street...

I like Simon. Not everything he does of course, but I would go see him if I had the chance. He is a New Yorker to the bone, for sure.

Anybody know what was the new song played at soundcheck in Tallahassee? It rocked. Hood? Anyone? Wasn't there for sound check. Have you heard any of the songs they've played from the upcoming record? Not this one as far as I know, and it was great. It was a Hood song, FWIW. After listening to the A...

Re: The Official John Neff Appreciation Thread

I saw Neff with Bloodkin Saturday night in Montgomery at a (free) outdoor festival. Well worth the $0 I paid (actually it was worth a lot more). Neff tore it up on pedal steel, adding a lot to the 'kin songs. His electric guitar solos, not on every song, were killer too, at least equal to his DBT da...

Re: Never Had Such A Good Time/The Grateful Dead Thread

Mayer is the new Weir and Weir is Jerry. Strange days. I bet the people (including Mayer) who paid buku bucks to see the Dead one last time are pissed. I would be. That was false advertising. Kind of like the Who or Kiss. Oh well. I bet you don't see Rush pulling that shit (and they are not complete...

I suggested to Gonzalez at the merch tent that they play any Florida-Georgia Line they knew, but he said they did not. The venue was on the FL-GA line. Ha Ha Ha.

He is a co-founder of Bloodkin, closely associated with WSP (they play a lot of Bloodkin songs and Bloodkin often opens or plays after parties in association with WSP). Athens, GA band. Friends with Truckers too, of course. I bet if you google Hoods posts, he mentions them frequently. Personally, I ...

I really liked his first solo album, Clear Heart Full Eyes. Never really got into the one from last year, but I'll have to give it another spin. Agree about the downward trajectory of their studio albums after Stay Positive. Sunday is my fav by far.

Re: Tallahassee, FL 5-1-16

I've only seen the future birds once after a football game; they played my alma mater and about 10 people (no exaggeration) came. I'd really like to see them again. I took a video of the concert that afternoon and I've probably watched it 100 times since then! They were pretty good. I have seen the...

Re: My 16 Year Old Son's Case For Rush in the RRHOF

Unlike most folks on here, I am a big Rush fan (again) after some 1980s dreck they put out after Signals. Live performance does improve some of those songs though. 1997's Test For Echo was pretty good (got it for $1 at a thrift store). They were on hiatus from about 1998-2003 when the drummers wife ...
