Re: Trampled By Turtles / Dead Man Winter / Dave Simonett

Dave did a reddit AMA (ask me anything) today. Not the most revealing Q&A, but his comment about the hiatus makes me think we won't have to wait so long 8-) for new TBT material.

Same singer, but a more traditional guitar/bass/drums/keys setup rather than guitar/bass/mandolin/fiddle/banjo [pushes up glasses] ACTUALLY, it's the same singer, bass player, and fiddle player (on guitar), with drums and keys. Technically I didn't say it was other people playing said instruments t...

Was hoping to catch the DMW hometown show in Duluth next month but it sold out too fast. Tickets are already going for $60+ on Stubhub, for a GA show in a pizza place.

Hoping to catch them at Blue Ox in June or People Fest in August.

bubba, the author is an engineer with google. phd from stanford. i had the same question this morning (this article is quickly making the rounds on fb) and looked him up.

medium is a self-publishing platform. sort of a blog on steroids. bill simpson's "the ringer" website uses it, for example.

It's an original, tagged as an "improv." Not sure if it was ever played again.

Anyone else have the JI poster he was selling on tour last year, a drawing of him sitting on a dock playing guitar with lights on in a house behind him? Took me over a year but I just realized the sky/stars glow in the dark.

Re: Jason's Discarded Songs

I don't really have anything to add. I pretty much agree completely. I'd be far more motivated to see Jason on his next set of shows if I knew I was getting this instead half of SE/SMTF and the same songs from his previous efforts he always plays. The Sirens songs are the most surprising. I underst...

Daylight was the very first DBT song I heard, back in 2007. I think I had one emusic download left and just randomly picked that song for some reason. I love it, and don't hear the out of tune chorus thing that people refer to all the time.

Jason's Discarded Songs

To the best of my knowledge, this is the number of songs from each album that Jason still plays regularly: SOTD: 3 out of 11 (Dress Blues, In a Razor Town, The Magician) S/T: 4 out of 11 (Seven Mile Island, The Blue, Cigarettes and Wine, Streetlights) HWR: 4 out of 11 (Alabama Pines, Go it Alone, Co...

I'm seeing Sturgill everywhere since the SNL performance. All over my FB feed, on other boards where country music is typically not talked about, I even saw a brand new copy of Sailor's Guide... on my boss's desk the other day. I guess breakthrough performances are still a thing.
