Re: Your Top Ten Favorite Bands/Artists of All Time

As in the days of "Desert Island Discs", I thought about this way longer than expected (or necessary), and ultimately decided to order them as they came into my life... these were the bands, that at the time , I could not stop listening to, and have never stopped listening to them... had t...

I picked up one of these Soundfreq Sound Kicks about two years ago (about $90 at the time from Target) and have been very pleased. Synchs via Bluetooth but also has audio/USB jacks, and an iOS app as well.

I think there's a ton to talk about in this song, but just one thought for now because it just struck me reading your post, beaverdam. To the extent that the song is about musing on getting older, choices made and not made, etc, the fact that the song is not narrated first person by the Dad is an i...

Oh, be honest...if Clams came walking up to you in the hall on Monday, what would you do? I mean picture this, you're there with all the sports. I know exactly what you'd do, you'd say hi to him and when he left you'd cut him all up so your friends wouldn't think you really liked him.

I missed that (loves vs. loathes) as I took the easy route and copied the lyrics online... listened to the EO version, and it is definitely "loves" on the studio version, but much harder to confirm from several live versions on Archive.org. Interesting that the line is offset by "but&...

DBT Track of the Week 144 "When He's Gone"

Nothing more daunting for a newbie than to tackle a "Song of the Week" but what better way to leap in than head-first? "When She's Gone" appears, on the surface, as another song in the genre of unhappy women trapped in a co-dependent relationship. Perhaps she simply "can't f...

In know this is a long-discussed classic, but as one who is only now learning the DBT back-catalogue, these threads are a great resource. One question that has not been asked: why did Mama call the law? The first verse sets up "Daddy" as one mean mofo, but the act of calling the law on one...
