Re: Southern Bitch
Saw them open for DBT at the 40 Watt several years back. I can't remember exactly what year, but the cover was $5 and it wasn't packed, so it was a while ago. Halfway into Southern Bitch's first song, my buddy and I hauled ass to the merch table to buy their album.

Re: Quicklists XVI: Favorite Athens Artists (excluding DBT)
Most of my favorites have been named, but have to show Jack Logan some love. Every song on Bulk is a classic, and the rest of his discography never gets its due. Very cool to see that he's playing shows again. I think I'm going to try to see him when he's on the bill at the Jay Gonzalez record relea...

Yep, that's me. They played my story during the first hour. With this great stuff Mike's playing, I'd love for him to get a regular show somewhere.

Mike at the Mic – R.E.M.’s Mike Mills to Play Vinyl All Afternoon on dave fm This Thursday I submitted a couple of things on that "stories/questions for Mike" form and the station called me this morning and asked me to tell my stories so I could record them and they could play them for Mi...

Re: I Will Kick Anyone's Ass Who Puts Down Justin Bieber
Bieber filmed a commercial in a friend of mine's neighborhood. Her young son wanted to see him, so they went down to watch. Bieber was apparently incredibly kind and gracious to everyone, and when he took a picture with my friend's son, made her get in the pic and also asked if he could hold her new...

Lebowskifest is the same weekend as the Lucero show. That weekend's going to be a MESS in Atlanta.
Is the Workplay a cool venue? Thinking about heading to Birmingham so I can see them with Centro-Matic.

Re: After It's Gone (Patterson and the Downtown 13)
Mike Mills called into the morning radio show on 92.9 here in Atlanta this morning to talk about the issue, then they played "After It's Gone." I was kind of blown away to hear it getting radio play in this day and age.

Re: Craig Finn Solo Record - New York Times Article
Agreed with most of the opinions here--nice side trip from the usual Hold Steady sound, without being a huge departure. I've streamed it several times, going to hit the record store this weekend to buy a copy. I bought tickets for his solo show here in March, should be cool to see him in a different...

Re: R.E.M. Call It A Day
We had a blast at the show at the Theatre. Best part of the night for me was Jack Logan's set. I'm a longtime fan and he hasn't played live in years. They covered Femme Fatale during their set, and midway through Mills walks onstage to sing harmony. Logan keeps singing, doesn't notice it's Mills un...

Re: Artist of the Week 11/7/2011 Centro-Matic
Just another "hallelujah" for the chorus here. I found out about Centro-Matic through that same best of list from Patterson, and jumped in with both feet into Fort Recovery. Totally agree about that same feeling as early R.E.M., and I'm reminded a little bit of Vic Chesnutt as well--words ...

Patterson also joined Kelly during her set on "Papa Was a Rodeo" and another song. Great set from him, and he and Kelly both mentioned they had new records coming out next year. I was stunned at how small the crowd was. They did mention that your ticket stub is good for 30% off at Criminal...

If that Will Johnson living room tour comes anywhere near you, go. I went to the last one he did with Anders Parker and it's one of my favorite shows I've ever been to.
