Not sure if any of you were/are Bikini Kill or Le Tigre fans but this is a really great documentary on Netflix (along with the Darlene Love doc---this is a must see).. http://beardedgentlemenmusic.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/The-Punk-Singer-A-Movie-About-Kathleen-Hanna-Poster-199x300.jpg

The video was shot by Joshua Black Wilkins. Terrific songwriter, photographer, rock video-maker.

Here's one of his he made with Amanda Shires:

Re: Are DBT tickets too cheap?

It also doesn't say anything about profit maximization. Let's say a band can sell out a 1,000 person club at $30 and can sell 800 tickets at $40. Which should it do? It depends. For example, maybe those extra 200 people buy enough extra merch to make the overall take higher at the lower price. Or m...

Re: Are DBT tickets too cheap?

Jason did make the leap to the next level in 2013. No one is disputing that. (My quibble is that the momentum began with Here We Rest which was the record that got him on several people's radar like David Letterman and Paul Schaffer and all that culminated with an outstanding record.) The question ...

Re: Are DBT tickets too cheap?

If the original question was from a supply/demand point of view, which I think it was, then Bill's premise is exactly correct. Until they're selling out ahead of time, they can't raise prices, right? (Homecoming, etc, doesn't count). I'm not sure how much control they have over ticket prices? From a...

Ok, yesterday I booked the pre-game. I have reserved the party area at The Silver Ball Museum for the afternoon before the show. m The Silver Ball Museum has around 100 vintage pinball machines. I am trying to get some swag so we can have a pinball tournament to raise some money for Nuci's Space. W...

Re: Patterson Hood on WTF with Marc Maron

I don't know how far back Maron's free archives go, but his Todd Snider and J. Mascis interviews were pretty good too, from what I remember. I get the sense that deep down (like most of us) he's a frustrated rock star, so his interviews with musicians tend to be pretty good. you have to have the pr...

Re: Jason on Marc Maron's WTF podcast today

Funny you mention Stern. I've gotten in many arguments over the years with people who think Howard is just some shock jock, but he's extraordinary at what he does. When artists make the rounds and do a kajillion interviews when they have a new project out, a Howard interview stands out and the rest...

Cole--you gotta get familiar with Marc Maron! The Jason and PH interviews were incredibly sincere and interesting (but I'm a huge fan so maybe I'm biased). Re: 2014 Album Releases

Jim James has covered Dylan and probably the best Dylan cover I've ever heard--(I'm obviously biased). I just listened to JJ's Goin' To Acapulco (if that's the one you're speaking of). It was very very good, but Hendrix's All Along The Watchtower is still better. 1. Hendrix-Watchtower 1a.-Byrds-Mr....

Re: Jason on Marc Maron's WTF podcast today

I know Maron is a comedian, but for my money he's the best damn interviewer in the world. I'm lucky that he has good taste, cause he's had some great musicians on. It's just like listening in on a conversation, and Marc makes most of his guests feel comfortable so they'll talk about things they wou...

Totally agree. I'm tired of these collaborations. MOF were friends who wanted to collaborate, make a great album (which funny enough was not really folk) and tour. (Plus Will J) NM were a group of talented musicians who wrote the sh*t out of Woody's poetry (Plus Will J). This doesn't need to be done...
