Re: Jason on Twitter is a thing of beauty
I missed that tweet, but I seem to remember recalling him say before that he wrote the song in Newport, KY. I heard him say it live, right here in Little Rock. I guess he says that to all the towns. Now I feel cheap. I heard it on a recorded show I believe, but I don't recall which one. Maybe I'll ...

Re: AOTW - 11/11/13 - The Afghan Whigs
Once again, "underrated" depends on where you're sitting. I'm sorry to say that I only discovered these guys in retrospect and it was because they appeared on so many annual and decade best of lists. So somebody liked 'em. I say underrated because I believe they are one of the best bands ...

Love me some Covington. First show was at Southgate House. Hope y'all had a blast. Not like you wouldn't. We did! This show was at Madison Theatre, which is a total shit hole in every aspect you can think of. Southgate was awesome, but is no more. The guy who ran it re-opened in an old church thoug...

Re: AOTW - 11/11/13 - The Afghan Whigs
I love this band, and the write up so far. I agree, they were one of the best bands of the 90's, and Dulli gets far too little credit. While I moved to Cincinnati in 1995, I unfortunately wasn't starting to get into these guys until about the time they were calling it quits, which completely sucks. ...

Just a couple of thoughts: Loved the Afghan Whigs shout out in Let There Be Rock: "I never saw Lynyrd Skynyrd, and I never saw the Clash, but I saw the Afghan Whigs mother fuckers!" The four new songs sounded great, although I have no idea what any of the names are. Is it just me, or is Co...

Re: Columbus 11/6/13
Here's the thing about Columbus: it's a biggish city (750,000+ population) with a huge college campus. The city attracts a lot of great shows, but god DAMN if the crowds don't suck at just about all of them. It's either ones like tonight (quiet, bored looking), ones who can't hold their liquor, or ...

These are all great, and bring back some memories of a prior job.
Not all companies are like that though, the place I've worked for the last 7 years doesn't talk like that, and I must say it's pretty nice dealing with people who are straightforward and say what they mean.

I'd love to have a good excuse to go down there sometime...plot sort of the "grand tour" route...Zip City, Wilson Dam, Muscle Shoals Sound, etc. You should, just make a trip when DBT or Isbell is playing in town. I went down for the "Siren's" release show (and was mostly surpris...

The Cardinals behavior has been silly but I'm thinking the Dodgers players ought not to be making Mickey Mouse ears to make fun of Adam Wainright's comments. Methinks that will get their asses whupped in St. Louis, but that's just me. Maybe he will end up regretting it. But I thought it was great, ...

Pete Rose should be in the hall of fame. And right next to, under, or attached to his plaque, they should also explain exactly what he did and why it's unacceptable.
Maybe that's the answer for Bonds and company as well. Shit, Ty Cobb could probably use one too.

Fastball. Obviously not all time but good while they lasted. Well written pop songs. Who doesn't sing along to "The Way?" Ugh. Never could stand that song. Different strokes and all, I suppose. No mention of Gov't Mule? I suppose they don't qualify now, but prior to Woody's death they qua...

Is it weird that I went to a DBT show and missed seeing Craig way more than I missed seeing Jason, Shonna or John? Not at all. Despite the general fan friendliness of the band, Craig was the guy who remembered your name, said hi, asked how you were doing, and made you feel like a long lost friend r...

Re: songs in comercials, yay or nay
I'm not a fan of it, but I recognize that it's a band's right to do it if they want.
I find that newer bands looking for exposure or some extra cash is much easier to stomach, hugely popular bands (AC/DC; Skynyrd; Rolling Stones) doing it as an apparent money grab bothers me MUCH more.

I saw Alberta Cross open for Them Crooked Vultures. I was intrigued by everything I had read about them up to that point, but frankly, their live show didn't do a whole lot for me. I have not listened to any of their albums beyond checking out some clips here or there.
